James Van Der Beek started his career in 1993, appearing in an episode of Clarissa Explains It All, followed by three episodes of As the World Turns. He then appeared in an episode of Aliens in the Family before landing the title role of Dawson Leery in the WB series Dawson’s Creek.

Alongside Katie Holmes, Van Der Beek remained on the show for six seasons and 122 episodes until it ended in 2003. While starring in Dawson’s Creek, he also landed a role in the football drama Varsity Blues, which earned him an MTV Movie Award.
