Dishwashers don't last forever. Whether you have a water line leak or just want to replace it with a newer model, you'll need to remove your dishwasher from its current spot. Here's how to remove it.
Dishwashers are almost always located next to a sink, so open the cabinet under the sink and look for three lines coming over from the dishwasher. One will be an electrical cord—unplug that from the wall.
The second line will be a water line. Follow that to the water shut off valve and turn off the water.
The third line is a flexible water drain hose. Unclamp and remove the hose from whatever fitting it's attached too. Many drains connect directly into the garbage disposal.
Remove the bottom plate cover below the dishwasher door. The screws may only be accessible when the dishwasher door is open. After removing the plate, you will have access to the water line that connects to dishwasher. Disconnect the water line coupling using a small wrench.
What do you think so far? Finally, remove the screws connecting the top of the dishwasher to the bottom of your countertop. Once these screws are removed you can carefully lift and pull the dishwasher out from under the counter.
Be careful not to scratch your floors with the dishwasher feet. Loosen the feet if necessary to help "rock" the dishwasher from it's position. Check out the video above to see the process in action.
