Introduction
RiceGum, is an American professional YouTuber with an estimated net worth of $8 Million.
Career
YouTuber and Rapper
RiceGum started his YouTube career by producing content related to his gaming exploits in the Call of Duty video game.
In October 2012 he created his YouTube and Twitter accounts, never for one moment considering that his content would become so popular.
RiceGum’s early YouTube growth resembled other famous YouTubers like the English rapper and comedian, KSI, as his followers found his channel fun and entertaining.
However, RiceGum’s YouTube path took a comedic turn when he decided to produce content that was more amusing and not just focused on gaming.
His videos became humorous critiques and rants about videos produced on musical.ly by a younger generation of content producers.
Transitioning from Gamer to Rapper
While still making use of his YouTube popularity, RiceGum transitioned into a musical channel focused on his rap music.
He became famous for his diss tracks where he targeted other well-known YouTubers, most recently focusing on Jake Paul and his brother.
To increase his following and create excitement, Ricegum created a little competition by calling out Paul’s song on the iTunes chart.
In a surprise move, one of RiceGum’s diss tracks made it onto the Billboard Hot 100 chart with, “Its Every Night Sis,” reaching #80.
Jake Paul hasn’t been the only famous target of his diss tracks though, with Danielle Bregoli and Gabrielle Hanna also coming in for some stick.
Rapid Rise to Fame
While it took RiceGum until mid-2016 to reach his first million subscribers, by the end of 2017, he’d reached a staggering 9 million subscribers.
Currently, RiceGum boasts over 10 million subscribers and received an astonishing 2.18 billion views on his main YouTube channel, aptly named “RiceGum.”
RiceGum is a long way from the following that YouTube sensation, Jimmy Donaldson (MrBeast) enjoys, but he’s working hard to catch up.
He is also popular on Twitch, with over 1 million fans following his content and enjoying his humorous roasts of celebrities and other artists.
Despite his increasing popularity, RiceGum has only managed to increase his main subscriber base by a little over 1 million subscribers in the past 6 years.
This hasn’t dented his ability to make money from his channel, with SocialBlade estimating that he makes around $33,000 from his one channel alone.
The figure doesn’t include his other income streams from his songs, promotional deals, and sponsorships which are difficult to qualify given the varying earnings models.
He doesn’t take life too seriously, as his videos are often self-effacing, and he even calls out YouTubers like Jacob Sartorius in his reaction videos.
Creating Multiple Channels
While it’s difficult to get an accurate read on RiceGum’s income from his various business ventures, similar channels are making over $1 million a year.
His YouTube channels, including RiceGum, RiceLive, and FamilyGum, contribute significantly to his earnings, with his videos receiving tens of millions of views.
However, RiceGum has been pretty quiet recently, with infrequent uploads on his YouTube channels and a lackluster showing on Twitch.
RiceGum on Twitch
After initially gaining recognition by streaming Call of Duty in 2013, RiceGum diversified his content to include other popular games like Fortnite and GTA V. He streamed once or twice a week for about 3.5 hours, with his streams attracting approximately 54,000 viewers. His approximately 1.2 million followers dropped to almost nil after he disappeared from the platform between July 2021 and May 2023.
Since May 2023, he’s been more active on the platform, so he can expect to start receiving additional income from Twitch again. While earnings from Twitch can vary considerably, top-tier streamers are paid $2.50 per subscriber, and it’s possible to earn $100,000 and more each month.
Spotify Earnings
RiceGum released 9 singles on Spotify in 2017, including “These Kids Must Be Stopped,” “God Church,” “DaAdult,” “My Ex,” and “Bitcoin.” With artists typically earning around $0.004 per single song stream, RiceGum’s total of more than 2.9 billion equals estimated earnings of approximately $11.7 million.
Sponsorship Deals & Controversies
RiceGum’s largest sponsorship deals include working with brands like Monster Headphones on a Super Bowl LII commercial. He also worked with “Mystery Brand,” a loot-box-style website linked to gambling, which was ultimately revealed as a scam.
With YouTubers and other social media celebrities being offered up to $100,000 to promote the website, it seems it was a hard offer to say no to. However, PewDiePie, one of the most famous YouTubers in the world, called the company out, saying it was a scam that shouldn’t target children. Whatever you may think of RiceGum’s antics, his rapping dis tracks, entertaining gaming content, and humorous persona translate into a very successful business model.
