Dec 26, 1999 25,074 4 0 Hmm? I've searced and searched for an answer, but I've never come up with an answer to this. All the barber shops I know of are closed on Monday, and I've always wondered where the tradition came from? Let's see if you guys can answer this one H

Feb 4, 2002 2,311 0 0 I've always heard that it was because barbers/hairstylists, like everybody else, want their 2 days a week off, but they stay open on Saturday for convenience with "working people"s' schedules, so they close Mondays instead. C

Monday was named after luna (lunacy), and they were so superstitious they thought only nutcases would come in on Mondays so they closed. Heh, j/k. The staggered weekend theory sounds good. I didn't know they closed on Mondays. It's new to me too.
