SEAWEED
Sativa or Indica?
Cannabis comes in Sativa, Indica, or Hybrid varieties. Sativas are known for their energizing and uplifting effects. Indicas are known for their relaxing effects. Hybrids offer the best of both worlds, providing a combination of Sativa and Indica effects depending on the strain’s unique terpene profile.
Terpenes
Terpenes are the components of the plant’s essential oils. The terpenes in a strain determine its taste, smell, and medicinal effects, including the duration, and overall feel of your medication experience.

Methods of Medicating
Maryland Cannabis Commission
FLOWER Flower is the most common form of cannabis. It is also the most versatile as it can be smoked, vaped, or made into edibles once decarbed (activated with low heat in an oven for 20-30 minutes).
CONCENTRATES
*Medical OnlyCannabis concentrates are some of the most potent forms for medicating. Concentrates are produced by a variety of methods that extract only the most powerful parts of the plant, including terpenes and cannabinoids. These concentrates come in a variety of forms, their main difference being consistency.
Wax
Any of a number of highly concentrated forms of cannabis that are defined by their consistency. Can be found as sugar, crumble, budder, sauce, shatter, or pull and snap. Concentrates are usually used in a dab rig or vaporizer, but can also be added to flower and smoked.
Sugar
This concentrate is typically crystalline and flavor-packed, resembles sugar. Best suited for use in a vaporizer or dab rig.
Budder
This concentrate is creamy and buttery, similar to cake badder, best suited for use in a dab rig.
Sauce
A concentrate more liquid in consistency, sticky, often contains crystals called diamonds. Best suited for use in a dab rig.
Diamonds
Concentrate is crystalline in form, can vary in size. Best suited for use in a dab rig or vaporizer.
Shatter
This concentrate is named for its resemblance to shattered glass when broken apart. This consistency is suited for use in a dab rig or a vaporizer.
Pull and Snap
A close cousin to Shatter, named for its ability to be pulled apart and broken, as in pull and snap. Suited for use in a dab rig or vaporizer.
Crumble or Honeycomb
A concentrate that crumbles when handled, softer in consistency. Suited for use in a dab rig or vaporizer.
Live Resin
Made by freezing freshly harvested flower that has not been dried or cured, maintaining the plant’s most potent terpene profile. Full spectrum and full flavor form of medicating, typically vaped.
Rick Simpson Oil or R.S.O.
Extremely potent, and often full spectrum, maintaining the whole terpene profile, dosing guides suggest starting with a dosage the size of a grain of rice. R.S.O. is already activated, meaning no heat is necessary for medical use. Typically eaten, this extract can be enjoyed alone or in a variety of edibles. R.S.O. is also available in capsule form.
Terp Sap
A highly potent concentrate with a syrup or tree sap like consistency. Terp Sap often contains the full spectrum of the plant’s terpenes and cannabinoids. It can be added to flower and smoked, or used in a dab rig.
Tinctures
Liquid in form, tinctures are made by dissolving cannabis in alcohol. Tinctures are already activated and require no introduction of heat for use. They can be ingested orally, often sublingually, held under the tongue for 30 seconds or more, and then swallowed for maximum effect.
Transdermals
Transdermals offer a method of medicating where cannabis is absorbed through the skin. Transdermals can come in cream, oil, patches, and even bath salts. Effects can be felt within 10-45 minutes.
