- 1⁄2 cup water
- 1⁄2 cup light corn syrup
- 1⁄8 teaspoon salt

- Cover pan and bring to a rolling boil.
- Remove lid and insert a candy thermomater and cook until temperature reaches 250 degrees F.
- Add food coloring, stirring with metal spoon until thoroughly mixed.
- Continue cooking until the temperature reaches hard crack, or 300 degrees F.
- Remove pan from heat and let it cool about 3 minutes, then add flavoring oil, and mix it very well.
- Cover the pan and let it sit for about 5 minutes.
- Pour the candy into greased molds (for lollypops) or a marble slab or into a greased shallow pan.

Kids and I made this yesterday. Problem I ran into was that I didn't grease the area I poured the candy onto!!! I had to soak the pan in hot water for several hours to get the batch out of it!! Next batch turned out great. I made aluminum foil trays and sprayed them with cooking spray lightly. peeled right off!! icons / ellipsis / ellipsis-horizontal Ravyn_Silverwing Reply 1 -
hey you can add a box of jello as your flavoring and 1/4 a cup of butter makes it better icons / ellipsis / ellipsis-horizontal Bambi t. Reply -
I followed the directions on my first batch and ended up with a lot of candy stuck in the pot still. The second batch I didn't let sit. I poured the candy straight into a cookie sheet and it worked much better. Candy has great flavor :) icons / ellipsis / ellipsis-horizontal fowler32 Reply -
My friends and I made 6 batches. Instead of pouring onto something greased I put powdered sugar on a baking sheet. You just make long lines in the sugar and pour in the candy. Once it has started to harden enough to handle you can cut it with kitchen scissors. It also helps with the candies not sticking together. icons / ellipsis / ellipsis-horizontal Stephy C Reply -
