Canada’s all-time record caps winner with 76, Charron participated in four World Cups and is tied with Gareth Rees for the most matches as captain with 25. Along with multiple appearances for the Barbarians, he was selected to the play for the World XV against Argentina in 1999. At 1.95m (6’5″) he was comfortable both in the second or back row and played professionally in England and France.
The new training facility is an expansion on the current Rugby Canada High Performance Centre in Langford, BC. Included in the plans of the nearly 1,800 square metre two-story building are a full size gymnasium and weight room, physical therapy and recovery studio, kitchen and dining room, meeting room, offices, six in-house living suites, and the new Canadian Rugby Hall of Fame. The federal government provided $2.9 million with another $1 million from the city of Langford. Construction is expected to be completed by September 2017.
