Movies Ryan Reynolds’ Free Guy Sets Disney+ Streaming Release Date December 16, 2021

Disney and 20th Century Studios have officially announced that Free Guy will land on Disney+ on February 23, 2022.

The film, starring Ryan Reynolds, Jodie Comer, Lil Rey Howery, Joe Keery, Utkarsh Ambudkar, and Taika Waititi, will be available for all Disney+ subscribers beginning then. The news came in a new video highlighting some of the bigger films and television series coming to the streaming platform.

“In Free Guy, a bank teller who discovers he is actually a background player in an open-world video game, decides to become the hero of his own story, one he rewrites himself,” reads the official synopsis of the film. “Now in a world where there are no limits, he is determined to be the guy who saves his world his way … before it is too late.”

Joining Ryan Reynolds are Jodie Comer, Lil Rel Howery, Joe Keery, Utkarsh Ambudkar, and Taika Waititi, who reunites with Reynolds after previously starring together in the infamous DC film Green Lantern in 2011.

The film also features cameos from some of the video gaming world’s most popular influencers including Imane “Pokimane” Anys, Lannan “LazarBeam” Eacott, Seán William “Jacksepticeye” McLoughlin, Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, and Daniel “DanTDM” Middleton.

Free Guy is directed by Shawn Levy (Stranger Things, Night at the Museum franchise) from a script written by Matt Lieberman and Zak Penn, based on a story by Lieberman. Producers are Ryan Reynolds, Shawn Levy, Sarah Schechter, Greg Berlanti, and Adam Kolbrenner with Mary McLaglen, Josh McLaglen, George Dewey, Dan Levine, and Michael Riley McGrath serving as executive producers.
