Maybe your like
When your phone suddenly won't turn on, it's hard not to panic; your device is an essential part of the way you live, work, and play.
But don't assume the worst. Here at Asurion, when your home technology isn't working properly, we can help you fix it. From resetting a Galaxy® tablet to fixing a printer that's offline, our experts are available 24/7 to get you back up and running. Here's what to do if your Samsung Galaxy® S7 won't turn on.
Force restart your Samsung Galaxy S7
Your S7 may not turn on because the system crashed. That also means your device won't respond when you press the Power button or when it's connected to a charger. To resolve the issue, try pressing and holding the Volume Down and Power buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds. If the system indeed crashed and there's battery power left, your phone will restart.
Charge the battery
If your Galaxy S7 won't turn on even after a force restart, try charging it. If your phone still doesn't respond, leave it plugged in for 10 minutes, then try to force restart it again. Still nothing? Try to turn it on like you normally would.
Restart your Galaxy S7 in Safe Mode
Still no luck? Sometimes a faulty app can be the culprit. Try restarting your device in Safe Mode—it will temporarily disable all third-party apps. Here's how:
- Press and hold the Power button.
- Once you see the Samsung Galaxy S7 logo on your screen, release the Power key and press and hold the Volume Down button.
- Continue holding the Volume Down button until your phone finishes restarting.
- Let go of the Volume Down button when you see “Safe mode" in the bottom-left corner of the screen.

Restart your Galaxy S7 in Recovery Mode
If an app isn't the reason your S7 won't turn on, it could be a hardware issue. There's an easy way to find out. Try restarting your device in Recovery Mode. This feature will enable you to use your phone without its usual operating system.
- Press and hold the Power, Home, and Volume Up buttons for a few seconds. Continue to hold them after Samsung Galaxy S7 logo appears.
- When you see the Android™ logo on your screen, release all three buttons and wait for about a minute.
- Use the Volume Down button to select Wipe cache partition
- Confirm your selection with the Power button, then wait a few minutes for the wiping to complete
- Use the Volume Down button to select Reboot system now.
- Use the Power button to confirm your selection, then wait for your phone to restart.
Once your S7 is in Recovery Mode, it should work normally again. If not, it may be time to try a factory reset or reach out to Galaxy phone repair expert.
Factory reset your Galaxy S7
If you've tried everything and your Galaxy S7 still won't turn on, your last resort is to perform a factory reset. This will erase your phone's data and restore it to default settings, so only try this if all the information you need has been backed up to the cloud.
- Press and hold the Volume Up and Home buttons simultaneously.
- While holding down those buttons, press and hold the Power button until you see RECOVERY BOOTING in the upper-left corner of your screen—then let go of all the buttons.
- Select Wipe data/factory reset from the Android Recovery screen. Use the Volume buttons to cycle through your options and the Power button to select.
- Select Yes, then wait for the factory reset to complete.
- Select Reboot system now, then wait for the reset process to complete.
