Tart cherries are always in season, thanks to a variety of product forms available all year long.
While they’re known for their unique sour-sweet flavor and intense red color, it’s the potential health-promoting properties that make Montmorency tart cherries a bona fide super fruit. And lucky for us, they’re always in season, thanks to the following variety of product forms available year-round.
Dried – Sprinkle onto oatmeal or cereal for an added boost of color to your breakfast or add to muffins and cookies for a chewy burst of flavor.
Frozen – In winter months, fresh fruit can be hard to find – but frozen Montmorency tart cherries are frozen at peak ripeness and they’re packed with phytonutrients, including anthocyanins. Keep them on hand to add to a variety of recipes, like smoothies, frozen yogurt or jam.
Juice – Get the potential health benefits of Montmorency tart cherries with a simple sip. Try mixing with sparkling water, or create a homemade iced tea or lemonade for a delicious drink.
Concentrate – Imagine the flavor and nutrient boost of Montmorency tart cherry juice, packed with 90-110 Montmorency tart cherries per ounce. Juice concentrate is great taken as a shot for a post-workout recovery boost or diluted in water.
Canned – Traditionally known for being used as cherry pie filling, canned cherries can also be used in cobblers, cookies and other baking recipes.
Fresh – During harvest season in growing regions, you may spot these ruby red morsels fresh in farmer’s markets – a rare sighting! Tart cherries are fragile fruits that are more often found as dried, frozen, juice, concentrate or canned.
