Know how to defend yourself
We live in a world, where learning to defend yourself is no longer an option but a necessity. While it is certainly not advised to get into a full-blown physical fight just for the thrill of it, you must know how to defend yourself when and if the need arises. This is why it is known as ‘self-defence’.
2/7
Here are the five areas you must hit the attacker:
From kickboxing to karate, there is no dearth of self-defence techniques and martial arts that one can learn. At the same time, it is important to differentiate between the fighting sequences you have grown up watching in movies from real-life fights. No back-ups or aliens (read jaadu) will come your way to help you fight the bully or harasser.
So, when the need arises to protect yourself, you must know how to fight back. Here are the five areas you must hit the attacker to cause the most damage from your blows.
3/7
The nose
A punch on the nose does not require a tremendous amount of pressure and can be extremely painful. It can make the attacker disoriented due to the excruciating amount of pain it causes. Infact, with slightly more pressure, you can break a person’s nose easily, which is more than enough to distract him/her and run away.
4/7
Jaw
When you punch directly on the base of the attacker’s jaw, it causes a significant amount of damage. A swift, quick motion can cause a lot of trauma to a person’s brain and even knock him/her out. The best part? You don’t need to be accurate with your blow, you just need to punch with a lot of strength.
5/7
The base of the throat
If you ever accidentally hurt yourself on the base of your throat, you know how painful it can be. Now, imagine a full-blown punch directly aimed at the trachea. It not only has the capacity to cause extreme pain but can even be fatal. The throat is a really sensitive area, so you can easily knock someone out by punching them on the base of the throat.
6/7
Groin
This one is a no-brainer. Growing up we have all been told about kicking the stranger right in the nuts when caught in a dangerous situation. A direct kick or blow to the groin area can cause crippling pain to the attacker and make him/her buckle down. This will give you the perfect opportunity to hit the attacker on the base of the head and run away.
7/7
Chin
Attacking someone on their chin has a similar effect like punching on the jaw. It can rattle the brain and leave the attacker disoriented. The reason is, there is a cluster of nerves running around your jawline, so when you aim a blow at someone’s chin, it can snap the head backwards. This leads to loss of control and the attacker may fall down.
