My FPV ground station has evolved over the years from a single 4-channel receiver on a small tripod to my current set up.  In between have been some successful and some not so successful setups.  Building a good FPV ground station all depends on what you need, it doesn’t have to be big, expensive and complicated.  It should only have what you need for your specific type of flying, nothing more.  Try to keep it simple; this will keep the cost and weight down as well as leaving fewer things to go wrong.

My ground station is geared toward flying my Vulcan 900 Hexacopter, so it doesn’t have a long range antenna and it has multiple screens and goggles for the camera operator.  I also use the ground station for my smaller F550 Hexacopter which uses a 900MHz system.  I do have several long range FPV airplanes, when I fly those I use bigger antennas and connect them to the ground station via the Eagle Tree Eagles Eyes FPV station.

One of the most import things to do before starting the build is to have a plan.  Know what you want to put in it and where you want everything to go.  You can also do what I did, find a case and build around that.  I was lucky enough to acquire this case so I decided to build a FPV station from it.  I took the appropriate measurements and got the gear needed to fit the case.  Once you’ve done that the rest is fairly easy, just follow your plan.  Always check and recheck the operation of your ground station before flying with it.
