In the year 2001, she officially started her career in television news where she was presenting late and evening news at WBTV. Three years later, she left WBTV and joined WRC-TV the NBC affiliate.

What happened to Shannon Bream while working at WRC-TV, is that she met the managing editor for the FOX News Channel based at Washington, Brit Hume. Hume became an encouragement to Breame, and as a result, she was able to send her tapes to FOX News and later in 2007 she joined the firm.
