Appearance[]
Sharona has dark blonde, curly hair, blue eyes, and a brilliant sense of fashion that makes her stand out from the other characters, especially Monk. The majority of her outfits are paired with a handbag, hoop earrings, and her monogrammed necklace. She also normally has makeup on, the most prominent being her blue eyeshadow. She's usually wearing a watch.
Sharona drives a tan 1990 Volvo 740 GLE wagon, with the exception of one scene in the pilot where she was shown driving a jeep of the same color. (The same model car was visible at the crime scene from s6e2.) She has a number of different handbags she carries with her, but there are three she wears most: a light brown-colored one in the first season, one navy blue-colored with rhinestones covering it in the second, and a black bag with a pink 'S' and the same color lining for most of her appearances in the third season. Various plain black bags are shown as well.
Personality[]
Sharona is shown to be cunning and sometimes manipulative when getting what she wants, especially around Monk, but in the end she obviously cares very much about him and the other main characters, despite how much she teases them.
A running joke throughout the show is her love life. Every other episode, Sharona has found a new boyfriend that quite often turns out to be the killer. She spends a lot of her time looking for love; no matter the person, she’s desperate to succeed in love and get Benjy a caring father. However, many men view her as only vulnerable and deceivable, and she’s often used as an alibi or target considering how close she is to the police. (After "Mr. Monk Takes His Medicine," she leaves for New Jersey with her ex-husband Trevor, despite how manipulative he still was toward her in his earlier appearances.)
By her guest appearance in season 8, episode 10, she acts softer towards Randy and admits to Natalie that taking care of Monk was the best job she ever had.

Trivia[]
- Bitty Schram left the show halfway through Season 3 due to a contract dispute. The official explanation was that her character had moved back to New Jersey and remarried her ex-husband, Trevor Howe.[1]
- Sharona has temporarily quit her job as Monk's assistant at least twice, though she threatens to several times. [2]
- In Mr. Monk and the Candidate, Monk reacts with "not again" when Sharona quits her job, implying that she had quit her job before.
- Sharona briefly appears in the intro even after her departure since a clip from the episode "Mr. Monk Goes Back to School" is used. For a few seasons of Natalie's episodes, she is barely visible in the clip from "Mr. Monk Goes to the Carnival" as well, but this only lasts to season 5 while the first, more obvious, clip lasts through the entire series.
- Sharona is a Catholic. She went to a Catholic high school ("Mr. Monk Goes to Mexico") and mentioned her "first communion" ("Mr. Monk and Sharona").
- Her motto, which she jokingly states in "Mr. Monk and the Very, Very Old Man," is, "No pain, what's the catch?"
- She hides her spare house keys above her front door.
- She's always wearing a watch on her right wrist.
- Sharona plays golf ("Mr. Monk Meets the Playboy") and is also implied to watch matches occasionally - she mentions being a fan of golfer Perry Walsh in "Mr. Monk and Sharona" before discovering he'd killed her uncle.
- She also plays tennis, as shown in "Mr. Monk Takes a Vacation." Andy Breckman explained that he put a lot of tennis scenes into the episode after discovering Bitty Schram was a semi-pro level tennis player herself (having studied at the University of Maryland on a tennis scholarship).
- Sharona does not appear in Mr. Monk's Last Case: A Monk Movie but she is mentioned: it is revealed she is married to Disher but was unable to come to San Francisco for Molly Evans' wedding because she is helping Benjy out with his newborn child, her grandchild. Andy Breckman has expressed interest in bringing Schram and thus Sharona back for a potential sequel film.
