We wanted a unique name with meaning. When we lost our daughter in Nov 2023, her name was si beautiful and meaningful that nothing seemed good enough.
Shiloh means abundance of Joy, gift from God. This name truly fits as her life is a gift to us.

We love the name Shiloh for so many reasons. As we grieved the loss of our first baby and waited for our next, God gave me her name through a song and encouraged me that she was coming. Many months later I was extra emotional when we found out we were pregnant with a girl!!
Shiloh means “peace-maker” & “place of rest.” Her name is woven throughout the Bible in contexts where people get to communicate with God in powerful ways. As we looked at instances where her name appears in Scripture, God showed us how his references to Shiloh point to Jesus’ coming so beautifully. We pray that her name would remind her of the overarching, redemptive story God is inviting her into, and that others would experience peace, rest, and hope in Jesus through her life.
“For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition that I made to him” – 1 Samuel 1:27, spoken by Hannah at the tabernacle in the city of Shiloh

Shiloh is a place in Scripture where God’s arc was kept, in Joshua, and means a place of peace. Jesus is our ultimate place of peace, and died so that we can have everlasting peace. We named our girl Shiloh because, in the midst of stress, fear in life, and intensity of labor, Jesus is our perfect peace.

We wanted something unique but not trendy and weird. We also wanted an S name to match with our last name. We also waited a day after birth to name her and make sure it was the right fit!

1. Shiloh is a spiritual name. It means to us peace, abundance and the peace of God in the midst of pain or struggle. 2. I love everything about it. Just saying her name and thinking on it during my pregnancy and labor brought me peace

I very much wanted our babies to have names reflecting the Lord somehow some way…Shiloh was a name that I wanted for a girl and that my husband wanted for a boy, since it is a Hebrew male name and equates with Jesus in the OT. Eventually, my husband agreed that we would name our firstborn (a girl) Shiloh and I was grateful he changed his mind. I also love that Shiloh is very rare, and does not end in the “e” sound or “a” like most girl names do.

I’m in my early 20’s and my name is Shiloh. My mom named me after the Neil Diamond song (which people usually know more than the biblical reference). As a child, I hated it because it wasn’t as pretty as other girls’ names, but now, I absolutely love it. Most of my family and friends call me Shi.

My mom always wanted to name me Shiloh for forever and now she finally got her wish 13 years ago, I love my name and almost all my nicknames like Shi, Shi-Bo, just bo, or even ShiChy because of my middle name (Cheyenne) .

I am now much older and wanted another puppy I have chosen an English golden retriever she will be white and fluffy. while trying to think for a name I woke up two days ago with the name Shiloh on my lips I had no clue about that name how to spell it or why it was in my head. after looking it up I definitely will call her by that name. I am still in wonderment of how I received the name and yet God is good he knows my new little dog and will be aware of both of us.

I knew that my first daughter would be named Shiloh. I have had dreams of that being her name and me holding her where my husband and I currently live. I believe that the Lord has chosen this name, and I happen to love it. I am pregnant now with my first born and I strongly believe that it is her. My husband even likes the name, so it’s a win win!

We wanted Biblical names whether boy or girl and I just didn’t care for any female Bible names. We decided to go with Shiloh, which is a location in the old testament.

We named our daughter Shiloh in 2011, and 8 years later we still love it. Every now and then someone says “I know a Shiloh!” But, we’ve never actually met another Shiloh ourselves. Sometimes people mishear and think her name is “Shadow” or “Charlotte“. We named her Shiloh because in the Bible, Hannah prays in the Temple at Shiloh for God to give her a child, and God answers her prayer. Similarly, we were told we couldn’t have kids and prayed for one. We love the idea of Shiloh being a place where God dwells with his people, like he did in the Old Testament.

Yeah..exactly. I’ve been waiting for a child in my marriage too..and still waiting but I believe once God granted my prayers I’ll be naming my child that name too, Shiloh, cause it has a beautiful meaning “God’s gift” ?
