Because it connects to vac servers as soon as game starts.If the OP would have done some research instead of assuming all vac games work the same.Some connect to vac even while playing single player.I agree it should only kick in while online but its up to each publisher/studio how it is handled

So Gaben is not to blame on this one as its not a valve game.

Well i could have handled the wording a little better also now that i look back on how i said it,was not how i meant it.

I just meant that if you would have done a little research you might have found this out before this.I did not mean it to come off as you where are idiot or anything but how i worded might seem like that.We are human though so we make mistakes and you are not the first one to have this happen. I think most just assume all VAC protected games work the same where only when playing on a online server that uses VAC is when it is activated.

Though if my memory serves me well i think its only the COD games that use vac in this manner but always a good idea to check before thinking of using any cheats/mods/ect. for single player on any VAC protected game.

You can only recover it if you remove it yourself, If you go through Support and have them remove it then it's permanent.

does it VAC banned or game banned? it's quiet different, VAC banned prefent you from playing on ANY online coop game such as paladins, dota, TF or CSGO. while game banned is coming from the developer of the game itself. it will prefent you from entering their online MP server. I got 'game banned' for screwing around BO3 on sp with mods.

A VAC ban applies to games using the same engine. It doesn't apply to all VAC enabled games, it certainly doesn't apply to all online/co-op games and it absolutely doesn't apply to Paladins as Paladins isn't even VAC enabled.

Are you sure? I loved MW2 and I played the MP all the time but I quit when I realized 90% of the matches I joined were always filled with hackers. One guy upgraded all my levels and challenges when I entered his lobby, and this made me achieve everything which I wanted to do LEGITIMATELY. So yeah, I left.

If Valve is actually enforcing their VAC on the game then I just might get around to playing it again

(To answer your question, get a new account and re buy all your games, otherwise you'll always be judged on the basis of your ban)

If you have enough money, as you seem so judging from your profile, ditch your current account and start from the scratch.

You only have but few games, no big loss. Switching to new account also prevents future unnecessary conflict based on your VAC tag.

Lesson learned, the hard way.

You can't family share once an account has gotten VAC and bans are carried over if family share is enabled. This is why you never share you account with someone you don't know and trust.

If it was me, in your situation, I would rebuy everything. VAC is like a giant stain on white shirt, and that is the type of stuff that would drive me crazy. Then again, I am a guy who has more than a few quarks :/.

However, rebuying everything is illogical, wasteful and ultimately ridiculous. VACs don't mean a whole lot in the grand scheme of things and the rest of your games do not suddenly become less enjoyable now that your account has a VAC ban on it. If you are sane, ignore it. If you are someone like me, wait for the winter sale.

Because using same email or phone number may get you new account banned for mw2 as well. But you will know it only when you buy or redeem it on new account...

Just a heads up, many people who actually play MW2 currently have a VAC ban. It's extremely common for somebody to hack you while playing it and give you a boost that will give you a VAC. A few of my real-life friends have VAC bans from 2-3 years ago due to MW2. It's honestly no big deal. This is one of the main reasons I refuse to purchase it on Steam.

I wouldn't even create another account in order to buy it. You'll probably get VAC'd within the first hour or so.

You should still be able to play campaign, even though you are VAC'd. The only reason you wouldn't be able to play is if you were game banned. I think.
