Shadow's a bit strange with food though, he's always unsure of anything he hasn't tried before and will mouth anything for a while to get a taste of it first. It's a bit like watching someone wine tasting 8O If Baileys doing as well as he looks in your sig pic, I wouldn't have thought soaked or dry matters that much. There's enough people who feed their dogs that mushy tinned reclaimed stuff right through their lives (a friend of mine included, and their dog's doing fine on it). #4 · Oct 23, 2007 Coal has to have his with water as he tends to throw it down his throat and if its dry, he gets bits stuck and then chokes on it  so we put a little warm water and then put cold in. So its' not soaked mushy but its floating if that makes sense! he never chews it! 8O  #5 · Oct 23, 2007 I have never soaked Charlie's food, he has always eaten it dry. Horses for courses though. Some dogs seem to need it soaked and others don't. If you and Bailey are happy the way you are then stick with it. Helen. #6 · Oct 23, 2007 Midas came to me at 7 weeks eating it totally dry he did however seem to go off his food a bit after a couple of weeks and I found soaking it made it more appetizing for him ,so whatever he prefers is fine! #7 · Oct 23, 2007 I still soak Molly's and she is four! It is much more of a quick sloosh though. I save all the vegetable water (unsalted of course  ) for the dogs, so it makes me feel better too  . I tried it dry with Molly once when she was about 6 months - and it came straight back up so I've stuck with wetting it. I find it quite reassuring when we (if we 8O ) have any hot weather too because I know she has had a good fluid intake even before she takes on any extra water. #8 · Oct 23, 2007 I soak whilst the puppy teeth are there, to make it easier for a baby to eat, but once the adult teeth are there then I want the crunch to help scoure the teeth clean. But I still want to insure they they have a good intake of water, so I just pour a little cold water on as I serve it. By about 10 to 12 months I drop the water all together and feed dry. Regards, John #9 · Oct 23, 2007 I slosh qute a lot of water on it with a few squirts of salmon oil just before serving. Probably more water than food! Slows them right down!! #10 · Oct 23, 2007 problem with coal is that he doesn't chew. tried dry but anymore than 5 pieces in the bowl and it gets hoovered! Insert Quotes Post Reply
