Should You Kill McKay Or Not?

McKay is one of the bosses of the El Este region, and you take him on (and make your decision) during the The Deported Operation.

Once you reach the bridge of the ship, you'll find McKay, and he'll offer you a choice: kill him and take your revenge, or let him go and he'll fund the revolution.

Luckily (depending on how you look at it), your choice doesn't influence the story. The ending is the same, either way, so the only difference is the reward you will claim at the end of this mission.

(Yelena will be upset by sparing him, but it will have no mechanical impact on your game.)

What You Get When You Kill McKay

If you decide to kill McKay, you'll get "Canadian, Eh?" Wrist Gear, which has the "Poison Is Money" effect. This effect gives you Pesos when you kill enemies with Poison damage.

NOTE: When testing this against enemies around our level (between Level 12 and Level 15), we obtained between 8 and 17 Pesos per poison kill while wearing the "Canadian, Eh?" Wrist Gear, which varied according to the strength of the enemy. Even assuming the maximum reward per kill, we would need to kill more than 250 powerful soldiers with poison damage to beat McKay's offer of 5,000 Pesos.

What You Get When You Don't Kill McKay

If you decide to spare him, McKay will give you 5,000 Pesos, which will buy several powerful guns from Guerrilla Garrisons or Juan's weapon vendors.

NOTE: If you equip the Miami Strip Slacks, you’ll gain 6,250 Pesos for sparing McKay.

What Should You Do?

Unless you are exclusively running a poison build and plan on doing quite a few side missions (or you simply want every piece of gear in Far Cry 6), McKay's 5,000 Pesos is a faster, easier way to gain cash, so most players should spare McKay.

If you don't want to spare him, however, rest assured there are plenty of other ways to get money, including Bandido Missions (which can award thousands of Pesos per mission), running stealth with the Champagne Amigo, and more.
