Lavender Simple Syrup

Lavender simple syrup is liquid sugar flavored with lavender. Simple syrup is sugar that has been dissolved in water.

Perfect for sweetening and flavoring hot and cold drinks, the syrup mixes in well, unlike sugar that’ll sink to the bottom of the cup.

Make lavender tea lattes and lavender iced tea using this simple syrup. Or just add it to lavender tea for an extra touch of sweetness and lavender flavor.

Ingredient Notes

Lavender simple syrup ingredients.
  • Dried lavender: Look for dried lavender flowers or buds that are food-grade. Never use dried lavender from flower shops since they’re loaded with pesticides.
  • Sugar: Use regular white sugar to get a little bit of a purple color in your simple syrup. You can also use brown sugar but that’ll change the color of the syrup to brown.
  • Water: Always use filtered water whenever possible. It’ll give you a better tasting syrup.

Questions You May Have

Why is my lavender syrup beige?

The color of the lavender syrup depends on the color of the lavender flowers. The deeper purple the flowers, the more purple will come out in the syrup. If the lavender is mostly buds and not flowers, the syrup will have a more beige color.

What can I use to strain the lavender?

Use a mesh strainer to filter out the lavender flowers and buds.

Can I make a drink for kids using this syrup?

Yes! Add 1-2 tablespoons of syrup to warm milk to make a lavender steamer.
