Do you want to rewatch your old Facebook stories? Although stories on Facebook disappear after 24 hours, you can still find your own old stories in your story archive. This wikiHow article teaches you how to view old stories in your Story Archive on your Android, iPhone, iPad, or computer.

How to View Old Facebook Stories

You can view old stories on Facebook if the story archive feature is enabled on your profile. Open your Facebook profile and tap the three-dot button under your cover photo. Go to "Archive" and toggle "Story Archive" on. Tap "Story Archive" at the top and select a story to view it.

  1. Step 1 Open the Facebook app and tap ☰ or your profile icon. 1 Open the Facebook app and tap or your profile icon. If you are using Android, you’ll see the icon with three lines in the upper-right corner. If you are using an iPhone or iPad, it’s in the lower-right corner. It may have your Facebook profile. This displays the Facebook menu.
    • The steps are the same for both Android and iPhones, but the buttons may be in different areas.
    • You'll only be able to view old stories if the story archive feature is enabled. If it is not, you won't be able to view your archived stories. To turn it on, go to your profile, then tap the three-dot menu under your profile. Tap Archive and Story Archive, then tap the switch to toggle "Story Archive" on.[1]
      • Tap the switch (it'll be colorless and pointing left) to turn it off.

  3. Step 3 Tap  ••• . 3 Tap ••• . You'll see this three-dot menu icon under your profile banner image on the right side. This opens your profile settings.

  5. Step 5 Story Archive 5 Story Archive. It’s the first tab at the top of the page. This displays your archived stories.
  6. Step 6 Tap a story to view it. 6 Tap a story to view it. While these stories are over 24 hours old, you will only be able to see your own. You cannot see stories that were uploaded by other people here.
    • If you want to change settings like the archive feature, tap the three-dot menu.
    • You can also add stories to highlights on your profile so everyone else can watch them. To do so, open your story, tap Highlights (the heart) at the bottom, and select a highlight to add it to.[2]

    • You'll only be able to view old Stories on your own profile if you have Story Archive enabled.[3] Reverse this process to turn the feature off.

  3. Step 3 Click Story Archive. 3 Click Story Archive. It’s next to an icon of a circular arrow with a clock inside. This displays your archived stories.
    • If you don't see Story archive under this icon, click More instead.
  4. Step 4 Click a story to view it. 4 Click a story to view it. While these stories are over 24 hours old, you will only be able to see your own. You cannot see stories that were uploaded by other people here.
    • To change your story settings, like whether the archive feature is on or off, click the gear icon.
    • You can also add stories to highlights on your profile so everyone else can watch them after 24 hours. To do so, click the highlight you want to add the story to, click ••• More, then click Edit. Click Stories and select the story you want to add, followed by Next and Done.[4]
