ProcedureEdit

Apply Online

  1. To become a bus driver in Singapore the applicant has to obtain a Bus Driver’s Vocational Licence (BDVL).
  2. The applicant has to Login to Go Business Licensing portal via Singpass link NOTE: If the applicant doesn’t have Singpass account click on register and enter the personal details and enter submit, the applicant with provided a login id and password via SMS or email.
  3. Under Licence Application, enter a search “BDVL” (Bus Driver Vocational License) then click on "Add to selection"> click on "Review and Apply" and then click the "Proceed" button.
  4. The applicant has to Fill in the application form and upload the necessary documents that are mentioned in “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. After submission the applicant has to Pay a non-refundable application fee of $40 via credit card, debit card or PayPal.
  6. The applicant will Receive an In-Principle approval letter from LTA (land transport authority) within 30 working days.
  7. After receiving approval letter, the applicant must undergo a medical check-up and chest x-ray.
  8. The applicant can go to any Singapore-registered clinic or hospital, or SATA Diagnostic Centres for the medical check-up and chest x-ray examination. The LTA's Medical Examination Form link must be completed and certified by a registered medical practitioner, while a radiologist must sign your chest x-ray report.
  9. After check-up Submit the medical records to the training provider when registering for the course.
  10. The applicant must Register for the BDVL training course and test with any one of the following providers.
    • Bukit Batok Driving Centre Ltd
    • ComfortDelGro Driving Centre
    • ComfortDelGro Driving Centre
    • Singapore Safety Driving Centre

  11. After successful completion of above-mentioned process, the applicant will receive your photocard licence within 20 working days via registered mail.

EligibilityEdit

  • The applicant should be a Singapore citizen, permanent resident or a work permit holder with bus driver as vocation.
  • Aged 21 years or older.
  • Have held a valid Class 3 Singapore driving licence for a continuous period of at least one year at the point of application
  • Updated Medisave account.

FeesEdit

  • The fee for applying is $40. If you're paying by check, please make it payable to Land Transport Authority.
  • The course fee is $107, including GST.

ValidityEdit

The validity of the vocational license is 3 years.

InstructionsEdit

  • An applicant who committed any serious offences such as rape, murder or kidnapping will not be considered
  • Applicants who committed less serious offences such as housebreaking and cheating may be considered after the sentence has been completed. A testimonial from the relevant authority may be requested on a case-by-case basis
  • Applicants serving supervision orders may be considered after the supervision order is completed.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • Bus driver vocational license allows to drive a bus in Singapore, no person should not drive a bus without vocational license which is very offensive.

Information which might helpEdit

  • If you are a Class 3 licence and a BDVL holder, you must obtain a Class 4 licence before you can drive a Class 4 bus.
  • To join SMRT or SBS Transit as a bus captain, you must obtain an additional omnibus vocational driving licence. For details, please enquire with SMRT or SBS Transit directly.
