In the movie Diamonds Are Forever (1971), several scenes were filmed in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. James Bond (Sean Connery), disguised as a professional smuggler and murderer Peter Franks, travels to Amsterdam to meet contact Tiffany Case. The real Peter Franks shows up, but Bond intercepts and kills him and switches IDs to make it seem like Franks is Bond.

The first location in the film we see is the Skinny Bridge (Magere Brug) over the Amstel River. Tourists on a canal tour boat pass the bridge and see the body of Mrs Whistler being dragged out of the Amstel. Mr. Wint and Mr. Kidd are standing on the Skinny Bridge. Mr. Kidd has just taken some photographs of the scene with his Nikon F camera. When Mr. Wint and Mr. Kidd walk away, we see Bond in the yellow Triumph Stag driving on the canal bridges. Then we see Bond walking up a few stairs and ringing the doorbell of Tiffany Case (4th floor). This canal house is located on Reguliersgracht 36 and still looks very similar as in the film. Later Peter Franks arrives at the same house when Bond is awaiting him (for some reason, Bond greets Frans in German instead of Dutch). None of the interior shots of the house, including the elevator fight, were filmed in Amsterdam.
