"Sacre bleu." What does it mean? O.k. This maybe a bit of an odd question, but I've always wondered what the French saying,"sacre bleu" means. Would someone please tell if you know the answer? I say it all the time when being daft as usual, but I've always wonderd what it means. Also if you would like to be my penpal, feel free to ask. I could teach you French, German, Welsh or even English if you'd like. You don't have to teach mne anything back in exchange if you don't want to, but I am interested in learning Italian though.

re 'Sacre-bleu' (more commonly 'sacrebleu') is a variation of the interjection 'sacredieu', so it's like "Bessed God!". But why 'bleu' instead of 'dieu', i don't know. Maybe God wears blue or something.

Re:re It means 'sacred blood', as in the blood of Jesus. It's a lot like saying ' oh my God', and would be said in thesame way.

Re:Re:re sacre bleu does not mean sacred blood. blood is sangue. sacre bleu is a euphemism for sacre dieu.
