Smoked Potatoes – baby potatoes that are seasoned and then cooked on the smoker. They get just a little crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and full of such great flavor!
Potatoes are such a go to side dish for pretty much any meal. And these smoked potatoes are so simple, but pack a punch with flavor and will complete just about any dinner.
If you are already cooking Smoked Meatloaf or something else on the smoker, throwing these potatoes on is a no brainer. They take about an hour and are one of our favorite side dishes.
I don’t know about you, but I often struggle with side dishes to feed my family. But these smoked potatoes have become a new staple that we all enjoy. They are perfectly fluffy on the inside, with just a little bit of crispiness on the outside. And the quick spice blend just works perfectly with the hint of smoke flavor.

You really can mix up the spices however you want; parsley, oregano, or Italian seasoning are all good ideas as well. You could even just toss them with some ranch dressing mix to make it even easier!

How To Make Smoked Potatoes
Potatoes on the smoker are one of the easiest side dishes you could ever come up with. You literally just put them on there and let them cook for 45-60 minutes.
- Toss the potatoes together with the olive oil and all the spices. Mix until everything is well coated.
- Arrange the potatoes in a single layer in a cast iron skillet or an 8 inch baking dish (I like the disposable ones for the smoker, so my good baking pans don’t get ruined).
- Place on the smoker at 225º F and cook for 45-60 minutes. I like to poke them with a fork or even my meat thermometer to see when they are tender.

What Type Of Wood
For potatoes on the smoker it doesn’t really matter what wood you use. I have made them with all types, so whatever you are using to cook your main dish works perfectly! Apple, Oak, Mesquite, a competition blend….they all work great with these little potatoes.
These smoked potatoes are great leftover, so if you have the space on your smoker, make a double batch! They add tons of flavor to Classic Potato Salad or you can chop them up and use them in a breakfast hash. They are super versatile and reheat very well. So don’t hesitate to make extra.

The ranch pack was way too much seasoning for 1.5 pounds of potatoes, and it takes way longer than 60 minutes to smoke! Still hard after 60 minutes

ReplyI really liked the flavor but maybe I had a potato issue. 225 degrees did not get these done in an hour, or two, or four…. They were cooked at 4 but not the right texture.

Welcome!
