~Missy~ M I have a 15 week old Am Bully pup, Lyza, some of you probably remember seeing her pictures. She was given to me by a BYBer. Her dam started killing off the littermates and the breeder did not want to deal with hand feeding all of the pups, so I offered to take her and so I brought her home at 5 weeks old. She's very petite and lean. 12 inches in the withers, 14 lbs. And she's ABKC registered. I am planning on taking her to some shows and seeing what happens. I am aware that she's probably not going to be bully enough for the ABKC, but someone felt the need to let me know this for sure. First, she told me Lyza would be around 20 inches tall?? And that she LOOKS taller than 12 inches in her picture (shown below). She said since she will be so tall, she'll be considered XL and since her weight won't match up, she'll be a mix and wouldn't even be looked at if we went to shows. She then went on to explain to me, like I didn't already know, that most dogs that title are from generations of planned breeding and if I wanted a show dog I would need to pay for a show dog. To all this, I replied that there was nothing wrong with us going to the shows and seeing what happens. If she wins something, great. If not, at least we have fun trying!! Anyways, I understand most ABKC Bullys are huge. But, I also understand that the Classic standard calls for dogs that are correct and proportioned. So why wouldn't Lyza have a chance if she's nice and proportioned when she's older? Her rear looks a little high in this pic, but her body is twisted because she moved right when the pic was snapped, and I was trying to adjust her head. lol I sent off her registration last week, and I have no idea what's in her peds, but will be happy to share as soon as they are here. #1 · May 19, 2013 I have a 15 week old Am Bully pup, Lyza, some of you probably remember seeing her pictures. There's some real dicks and nimrods on there. You can't really tell what she's gonna be until she's grown. I bought 2 pups hoping for a pocket to show. The male that had real potential for pocket has just about out grown the female now and I'm thinking he may end up being an extreme but who knows hes got a lot of growing left. Then telling me that my pup looked taller than I said she was? LOL, I mean I did actually measure her! #4 · May 19, 2013 No one can tell you how that dog is going to be until she matures. She is a puppy. Those BBBs are a freaking joke so I would really not listen to the large majority of what is said on there. Very few people on those boards have even a slight clue of what they a re talking about. #5 · May 19, 2013 Yep! She proved that within the first few sentences! She said that 75% of pups take after the dam's bone/facial structure because I said Lyza has her sire's head.
