Sonic Colours Ultimate Physical Editions Delayed In Europe, Look ...

Update (14th September):

A member of the Nintendo Life team received an order update from Amazon in Spain, stating that it will be delivered on 11th October or later, so there's still quite a wait in that case.

Just two weeks out from the September 7th release date of the remaster of Sonic Colours Ultimate, SEGA has announced that "unforeseen logistical issues" will mean delays for the physical edition.

"All physical editions of Sonic: Colours Ultimate, which include both the standard and keyring edition; will be delayed across all EMEA markets, excluding Australia & New Zealand. This does not impact the digital release across all first party platforms."

There are a few things in that statement to make note of: The digital release is unaffected by the delay, meaning that it's presumably something COVID-related to do with the production of manufacture and/or shipping — Doki Doki Literature Club's physical edition suffered similar delays recently — and not to do with the game.

The statement, which SEGA Europe put out on Twitter, also seems to imply that Australia and New Zealand might be unaffected — although the delay is specifically mentioned as being in the EMEA region, which only includes Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. That also means the Sonic Colors Ultimate will most likely launch as planned on the 7th September in North America and Asia.

But thirdly — are we supposed to be spelling it "Sonic Colours Ultimate" or not? We know that the European version is spelled with the "u" (thank you) but when we're covering news that may or may not affect the u-less market, it gets very confusing.

The physical edition includes the game and a "Baby Sonic Keychain", and has versions for Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. The updated release date for EMEA has not been announced yet.

I purposefully bought a version that doesn't include the baby Sonic keychain, because seriously.

But that's a pain when physical releases get delayed, probably for a similar reason to the Zelda Loftwing amiibo getting held up?

Same thing is happening with No More Heroes 3 from Pix 'n' Love, the Collectors and Deluxe Editions are delayed.I got the email today telling me they're delayed.

So can I just get one without the keychain, I have been waiting for this game for a bit, sure I can wait more but they don't even have a date for that.

Edit: I just read on another website that north Is not apart of the delay, Thank goodness. though its kinda messed up as physical games always impacted Europe.

Welp nothing I can do about it, On top of digital Player who got deluxe getting it a week early, we physical owners have to wait On top of that.

This is the 3rd time a high-profile title has had its physical title delayed in Europe this year (Crash 4 and Game Builder Garage being the other titles). Unlike those titles, there was at least warning prior to release (Crash 4 silently delayed the physical release in Europe, GBG simply advertised a physical version without ever specifying which regions), but to do this less than 2 weeks before launch would signify something deeply wrong that's happened last minute.

Ehh it's out a few days before Wario Ware (oddly on a midweek date not a standard Friday) so it can keep. I wasn't excited to play it again after the first time anyway.

I assumed that the game was delayed worldwide, but a paragraph later in the article clarifies that the North American and Asian releases are unaffected by the delays. Which scenario is the correct one?

Mine says arriving September 10th to September 22nd. Kind of a bummer, but that's not a big wait. I just hope there's no physical delays on Pokemon or anything else with a 2021 ETA

As a Canadian, I'm real tired of companies not adding u's to our games just because "lol North America means only the US, right?" It's like, since you're required to provide bilingual packaging up here, would it kill you to just add a 'u' to colours while you're at it? This is a legit pet peeve of mine. Same goes for not including metric units or celsius. Drives me up the wall!

I don't mind waiting a bit longer if it means getting a physical copy of the game. It sucks, but at least Sega did this a couple of weeks ahead of time instead of a couple of days before. If it was say, Sept. 5th, and they pulled this, I would be....annoyed! I've got plenty of games to keep me occupied till October!

That sucks. I was actually sent a second additional copy by mistake from GameStop here in the US. Still haven't tried it out yet. Waiting for that patch first.

@korosanbo Would love the game with patches installed, but considering how close to release this is, the carts are (most likely) already done. Just logistics causing a delay, not changes to the game/carts. But here's hoping...

Also, considering how badly this game has been received, it went from 'must-buy' to 'wait-and-see-what-happens-after-patching'. Still got my Wii version so there's no rush.
