Drama comes in all shapes and sizes. But in the case of episode 7 of “Sons of Anarchy,” tragedy took the form of a young, blond boy. In Tuesday night’s Season 7 episode, Gemma (Katey Sagal) finally had her secret about killing Tara (Maggie Siff) discovered when she confessed to the murder in the sloppiest fashion.

Gemma was on edge (and sleep-deprived) when she got a visit from SAMCRO, claiming her son wanted to see her for “a family problem that needs some help.” And it was only logical that the Teller matriarch assumed it had something to do with the death of Jax’s wife (which it didn't). Juice, after all, had fled to the club after Gemma attempted to kill him. So Gemma assumed he would reveal what she had done in order to save his own skin. Juice is the only person who knows that Gemma was the one who killed Tara -- or at least, he was until episode 7 aired.

It was Gemma who ultimately spilled the blood-soaked beans about what she did during the Season 6 finale when she admitted to Thomas (Tara’s son) that she was the one who killed his mother.

“Killing your mommy was an accident,” she said, under the impression that this would be the last time she would ever get to see her grandson. “It was such an awful accident. I didn’t want to kill her. I didn’t mean it. I loved your mommy so much. I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry.”

But little Thomas, who is too young to speak let alone know what his grandmother was saying, wasn’t the only one who heard Gemma’s confession. Due to her unstable state of mind, Gemma left the door open to Thomas’ room, and “Sons of Anarchy” cut to a scene of Abel listening in the doorway.

The only question now is what will Abel do with Gemma’s secret. Will he tell his father about what his grandmother did to his stepmom? Or will he keep Gemma’s confession to himself? According to TV Guide, Jax won’t be finding out about what Gemma did until later in Season 7. But when he does learn that Gemma was the one behind Tara’s brutal demise and the string of messy murders that followed, we can bet that Jax won’t be too forgiving.

Sagal teased that regardless of how Jax decides to punish her, she’s destined for a grim fate. "I don't think there is any relief for Gemma, dead or alive," she revealed. "She's is so much about her family and this life, and that's just shredding. To think of her living without [that family] or being dead, they both seem the same. There is no redemption for Gemma."
