We usually have cornbread on the side with rice and sausage."   icons / ellipsis / ellipsis-horizontal save Download Print Share I Made This photo by Karen M. photo by Karen M. photo by Karen M. photo by Charlotte J photo by Charlotte J photo by ksmack31 photo by ksmack31 photo by Charlotte J photo by Charlotte J photo by Keeping up with the photo by Keeping up with the Ready In: 45mins Ingredients: 5 Serves: 6 Nutrition information

  1. This is NOT an authentic southern cabbage recipe especially not without the pepper flakes and sugar And also use chicken stock instead of water. Add diced onions, green peppers, garlic powder, onion powder. Man this recipe needs some help lol   icons / ellipsis / ellipsis-horizontal Nikkis Way 7. Reply 8 See 1 Reply
  2. My dad cooked this cabbage recipe, and he was from the South. I'm from the West, and now I cook it. He served it to me and my brother when we were children. He also served it to us with a slice of Jiffy cornbread. I'd crumble the cornbread into the cabbage, and it was delicious! I still eat it that way. Thanks for the recipe.   icons / ellipsis / ellipsis-horizontal Think T. Reply 3

  4. Great recipe. My husband loves it. I used turkey bacon instead of regular bacon because we dont eat pork. And i used chicken broth instead of water. Delicious!!   icons / ellipsis / ellipsis-horizontal Amanda K. Reply 2 See 1 Reply
  5. I added garlic and a little veggie broth instead of chicken, and then used grilled kilbasa instead of bacon (not boiled with cabbage). Very good.   icons / ellipsis / ellipsis-horizontal Marjorie S. Reply 1

  1. Yall! this recipe is a great basic start! but if you really want to add some KABOOM to the cabbage... make sure it's not water your putting the cabbage stockpot... I highly recommend using chickenbroth... if you want to make it super healthy broth make your own bone broth with Rot. chicken bones then add in strained bone broth to cabbage... YUM...I make mine like soulfood kapusta! I add boiled potato and cajun andouille chicken... I'm from New Orleans and I like spice! Hey! Try it and enjoy :)   icons / ellipsis / ellipsis-horizontal Anonymous Reply 4
  2. This dish turned out awesome! I used both bacon and hot smoked sausage and substituted the water with beef broth and instead of using salt I used a beef seasoning packet from a ramen packet. I also added garlic and dab of olive oil. I added the bacon and sausage to the pot at the end. I served it with jalapeno cornbread and I must say this was the best cabbage that I've made.   icons / ellipsis / ellipsis-horizontal ksmack31 Reply 3
  3. This is very delicious! My husband said he could eat it every night for dinner! The only changes I made were that I added some fresh chopped garlic, ground pepper and a little Extra Virgin Olive Oil to it. I will definitely be making this again!! Thanks for sharing!   icons / ellipsis / ellipsis-horizontal crohrer1982 Reply 2

Cooking is what I do. I love looking for new recipes. I have three daughters, the last one left for college this year. Being a military family gives us the opportunity to try a variety of cuisine's from all over the world. I learned to cook from watching my father while I was growing up and have loved cooking as long as I can remember. A big thank you to everyone for this wonderful site.   View Full Profile Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement
