Space Cowboy

Nicolas Jean-Pierre Patrick Dresti (born 5 March 1975), better known by his stage name Space Cowboy, is a French-British singer-songwriter, DJ, and producer. Born in France and raised in England, Dresti first recorded in 1992 under the names of Vibes and DJ Apex, releasing breakbeat hardcoretracks. He has recorded under various pseudonyms including: Nicky Fabulous, DJ Supreme, Kings of Rhythm, Loop Da Loop, and DJ Chrome. He co-founded Tiger Trax in 1999, an independent record label in the United Kingdom.

Work with Lady Gaga

In 2006, Space Cowboy released his electronic-dance-rock and third album “Digital Rock” in the UK with an early incarnation of the song “My Egyptian Lover” which was added to BBC Radio 1. It was a satellite transmission of the Radio 1 feed that caught the attention of Cherrytree Records whose roster also included a new, up-and-coming New York-based artist named Lady Gaga. The label made an introduction and the two hit it off creatively. “I remember our first conversation was on the phone,” recalls Space Cowboy about his first chat with Lady Gaga. “She was talking about sequins, disco balls, Prince, David Bowie and body paint. Basically, she was speaking my language.

Following that initial call, the two met up in LA where Lady Gaga invited Space Cowboy to join her touring ensemble as DJ. Space Cowboy began on March 11 for the Just Dance Promo Tour and later, the New Kids on the Block: Live in 2008, then the Doll Domination Tour in 2009 which was followed by The Fame Ball Tour until his last show on April 23, 2009. During that time, the two collaborated in the studio on the duet “Starstruck” for the album The Fame and on the promotional single “Christmas Tree.” While on tour, he also worked with her on her second album The Fame Monster, co-writing and producing the tracks "Monster" and "So Happy I Could Die" with Gaga and RedOne. Space Cowboy was also featured on various photoshoots with Gaga in 2008-09, mostly with on-location photographers.

He has since stopped touring with Gaga to focus on his solo career. His last public appearance with Gaga was at the 52nd Grammy Awards in 2010, he was seated behind Gaga. He was nominated that night for Album of the Year for The Fame (as featured artist and Producer). Space Cowboy was also nominated The Fame Monster (as Producer) for Album of the Year at the 53nd Grammy Awards in 2011.
