Girl Names littlecandle December 28, 2017, 12:42am 1 alright berries! this is kind of an unusual post but i’ve decided to change the spelling of my name. My name is [name_f]Ryleigh[/name_f] and i’ve never liked it. All through school I hated it and I personally think it looks immature It gets misspelled quite often and I’d like to change the spelling! I don’t mid the sound of the name, but more the way it looks. Originally, I wanted to change my name completely, but decided against it because even though I dislike it, it’s apart of me. My “new name” will be one of these [name_u]Riley[/name_u] [name_u]Rylie[/name_u] [name_u]Rylee[/name_u] [name_u]Ryley[/name_u] Rileigh (similar, but I think it looks better) Thoughts/ideas/suggestions? mamanmia December 28, 2017, 1:41am 2 riley definitely bonfireazalea December 28, 2017, 1:46am 3 I think anything other than [name_u]Riley[/name_u] would get misspelled a lot. Also, if you don’t like [name_f]Ryleigh[/name_f], what about going by just [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] if you like that? It’d be a bit different but still come from your name, no different than an [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] going by [name_f]Liv[/name_f] or [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] going by [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. ceruleanstardust December 28, 2017, 1:57am 4 I like [name_u]Riley[/name_u] best and agree that it would be the best option to avoid mispellings. namergirl3 December 28, 2017, 2:31am 5 I much prefer [name_u]Riley[/name_u], for reason that other posters already listed. In addition, it looks the “cleanest” and least childish. You mentioned that [name_f]Ryleigh[/name_f] looks immature and my concern is that you’d run into the same issue with other “unique” spellings of the name. erin_beth December 28, 2017, 2:49am 6 I think [name_u]Riley[/name_u] will give you the least hassle and it will mature nicely. thishollywoodgirl December 28, 2017, 3:43am 7 I have [name_f]Ryleigh[/name_f], [name_u]Rylie[/name_u] and [name_u]Rylee[/name_u] on my girls list, but I would probably go with whichever one YOU like the best, and here’s why; My name is [name_u]Haley[/name_u], and I was born in the mid 90s, just as the name was taking off. My spelling was the most popular the year I was born (and for the 4-5 years leading up to ‘95), so logically, you’d think my name would cause little hassle. I have had to constantly correct my name countless times to people - I have immediate family members who can’t spell it right. I wanted to change the spelling desperately up until I was 19-20, actually, because I hated having to correct my name constantly, and like you, I didn’t like the look of [name_u]Haley[/name_u]. I thought it was too boyish for me, because I happen to be incredibly feminine and as my fiance says, I “bleed glitter” lol. I experimented a couple of times with different spellings - [name_f]Hailey[/name_f], [name_f]Hayley[/name_f], [name_f]Hayleigh[/name_f] and [name_f]Haylee[/name_f] mostly, and they didn’t fix any of the original issues I had, apart from maybe having to correct [name_f]Hailey[/name_f] a little less than usual. After that point, I sort of gave up. My name is the biggest part of me - I’ve had it for 22 years and I know it causes me a lot of problems, but every time I tried going by something else, it never felt right, or caused more problems than my original name. So from experience, I would wait to legally change anything, but definitely try out another spelling if you want to! However, from what I have experienced, sometimes with names that have tons of spellings, you’ll have to correct it a lot regardless of whether you use the most popular or the most obscure. boyandgirl December 28, 2017, 11:30am 8 I prefer [name_u]Riley[/name_u]. SparkleNinja18 December 28, 2017, 11:32am 9 [name_u]Riley[/name_u] is my favorite spelling out of those, but [name_u]Reilly[/name_u] is the spelling on my list. ellecr December 28, 2017, 5:17pm 10 I agree with previous posters that the most traditional spelling - [name_u]Riley[/name_u] - addresses the issues you listed.
