Spider-Man: Far From Home - When Did MJ Learn Peter ... - CBR

The Marvel Cinematic Universe took many creative liberties from the Spider-Man source material when adapting the character, some for the better. For example, MJ is a much more intelligent and sarcastic character than her comic book counterpart, which becomes abundantly clear in Spider-Man: Far From Home. She's always ahead of the curve in the movie, so much so that Peter Parker has a difficult time hiding things from her.

In Far From Home, Peter struggles to live up to Tony Stark's legacy as the next Iron Man. And it's due to this struggle he abandons his suit on a school trip to focus on living life as a regular teenager. Unfortunately, circumstances eventually lead him to resume his activities as an Avenger. But when he and MJ get closer on the trip, he decides to reveal his secret identity, only for her to already know. However, MJ may have come to her conclusion much earlier in the film.

On the bus ride to Prague, one can notice that when Peter distracts the class before taking out a drone targeting Brad Davis to prevent him from sending an embarrassing photo, MJ is the only one still looking ahead. The entire class can't help but look at the distractions outside, but it's clear MJ has something else on her mind. That means while she pieced together Peter being Spider-Man because she's so smart, it's likely it was this moment that she got solid confirmation.

Throughout Spider-Man: Homecoming, she pieces together evidence of Peter possibly being Spider-Man due to him not being present at the Washington Monument when Spider-Man rescued the class. Additionally, she noticed that Peter would take off at a moment's notice without returning after a substantial amount of time. With all this in mind, MJ likely kept a watch on Peter. And by the time he distracted the class with baby mountain goats in the Austrian Alps, MJ subtly looked upwards, knowing he was up to something.

With her vast intellect and detective skills and Peter doing a poor job covering his tracks, it’s no surprise that MJ figured out his secret identity. And thankfully, despite MJ having to confront Peter about it, she was willing to help him on his mission and build a relationship. So, while Peter may be the superhero in the relationship, it seems like MJ possesses a superpower of her own.
