How To Use the Spirit Box

The Spirit Box is a piece of Starter Equipment in Phasmophobia. While the Spirit Box is on, you'll most often hear white noise but when asked a question, a Ghost can respond to answer you through the Spirit Box. You'll need to be within a certain range of the Ghost to get a response. Additionally, the room's lights must be off.

Some Ghosts may respond regardless of the number of people in the room or nearby whereas shy ghosts may only respond if you are alone in the room.

You can either carry the Spirit Box with you as you explore the map and ask the Ghost questions or you can drop it on the floor or a surface in the suspected Ghost room.

Like other electronic devices, an active Spirit Box will malfunction during a Hunt and it can reveal your location to a Ghost if you're holding one. For this reason, it is recommended you turn off the Spirit Box during a hunt.
