Where To Find Snow Yams

There are two main ways to find snow yams; tilling the ground and growing winter seeds. Let's take a look at finding snow yams by tilling first.

Tilling

Snow yams can be found from artifact spots during the Winter. Artifact spots are little patches on the ground that look like three moving worms. Using your hoe, you can till up the spot. Snow yams have an 11 to 16 percent chance of being buried in the artifact spot.

Additionally, there is a four percent chance of finding a snow yam by tilling regular dirt anywhere besides your farm and the desert. The desert area will never contain snow yams because it does not snow there.

Winter Seeds

Winter Seeds are a season-specific seed type that grows the foraged items associated with the season. Planting Winter Seeds will yield the following foraged items.

  • Crocus
  • Crystal Fruit
  • Snow Yam
  • Winter Root

Winter Seeds can be crafted with all four foraged items as well. This recipe, which produces ten seeds, will unlock once you reach Foraging Level 7.

By placing a winter root in a seed maker, you can also produce between one and three Winter Seeds. This is a great way to build up your seeds since you only need one foraged item, rather than all four.
