Lately I have been noticing my iPhone 12 Pro Max making a strange static noise randomly when I’m not using it. I’ve checked to make sure I was signed out of YouTube, music, Internet, etc. and that was not the problem. I woke up at 3:20 this morning because I could hear a light static noise coming from somewhere…. so picked up my phone and put it to my ear and realised that it was coming from the speaker on my phone. I think this is very strange….. Its very concerning and makes me feel uncomfortable. Does anyone know why this is happening, or what it means? Is someone listening in on me and my family? Is my phone tapped? Please help! Thanks
iPhone 12 Pro Max, iOS 14

Hello CheshireCat702.
Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand you have a concern about an odd noise coming from your iPhone. Let's walk through some steps to help you identify it.
You mentioned signing out of apps, but we'd recommend force closing all your apps, restarting your iPhone then testing it to see if you hear the static again.
Close an app on your iPhone or iPod touch
You will want to make sure the app is fully closed and not re opened after you restart your iPhone. If you let your iPhone sit for long enough that you determine the noise would have started, slowly start opening one app at a time. This can help you determine which app might be causing the sound.
Also, you can look at your iPhone display to determine if the green or orange indicator lights are showing. This will help you find out if an app is using either your camera or microphone.

All the best.

- Noises coming from earpiece speaker My iPhone 11 Pro max is making weird static, ticking, crackling noises coming from the earpiece speaker. This happens when I’m using my phone, typing, on a call, or even just scrolling on my Amazon app. Is there anything I can do from home to remedy this? If it makes any difference I got a notification recently saying that my headphone usage had been up too high but I only connect it to my car usually. 3227 1
- What is this sound on iPhones? I don't know if anyone has noticed this until now there is a very small sound at the top of the phone when you let it go with the screen down on the bed for example that is, you put the phone in a vertical position and let it fall on the bed with the screen down you can hear this sound as if something is broken on all the apple phones I've had, they all sounded like this it can be heard even on iphone 14 pro max and the phone is new Can someone please tell me what this could be?
