If quarantine has taught us anything, it’s that we need human interaction. How many times have you wanted to hug a stranger lately? On our walks, I’ve waved at more people in the last month than I have my whole life. But that’s not the point here. You know what else quarantine has taught us? That we are more savvy than we thought. I haven’t done my own nails in probably 5 years. And for 4 of those years, I’ve had acrylic nails on. Well you know what happens when you take your own acrylic nails off? You’re reminded that you barely any nail left. My nails felt like skin. It was quite upsetting.

At first I thought I would just keep my nails au naturale and let them heal for a while. But I quickly decided that wasn’t an option for me. I don’t like seeing my real nails. Kind of like how I don’t like seeing my real blonde hair. There are some things better off hidden. And luckily someone told me about Static Nails on instagram. These press-on, pop-off nails are suppose to be easier on your nails than acrylic and you can put them on in the comfort of your own home. So instead of looking at my nails any longer, I gave Static Nails a go and I loooooove them!

A few people reached out to me to let me know that I should try some non-toxic nail polish, but I don’t personally like the nail polish look. I want my nails to look longer and I find that my real nails normally break and I have different length on each nail. I hate that look. If you want your nails to look fresh and professional in minutes, these Static Nails are where it’s at! These nails can be removed and reapplied, which means you can wear them for quite a while and reapply them as your nails grow. And they are applied with a non-damaging glue to help your nails stay strong throughout each wear. Their glue bonds like acrylic, but breaks down the longer you have nails on. The more glue you use, the stronger the hold and the longer your nails will stay on.

The Static Nails can be worn anywhere from 1-18 days depending on how much glue you use. Applying the nails is super easy! If I can do it, anyone can.

  1. First you’ll remove any nail polish and oil on the nail bed by using nail polish remover then buff the nail with the buffer that is included in the Static Nails packaging.
  2. I want my nails to last over a week so I apply the glue to both the Static Nail and my own nail, wait 6 seconds to let the glue get tacky then press the nail under the cuticle before pressing down on the entire nail and holding it for 20 seconds or longer.
  3. Then all you have to do cut and shape the nail, if you prefer! The Static Nails I purchase are a tad long for my taste so I simply cut and then use a nail file to shape them.

When removing my first set of Static Nails, buffing my real nails, applying the Static Nails, and then shaping them 0 it all took about 1 hour in total. Each Static Nails kit includes 12 sizes per hand to help you find your perfect size for each nail. I had to file down just a couple nails on the edges to fit my nail bed perfectly, but that wasn’t a big deal whatsoever.

If you use a good amount of glue (like I did), you’ll want to be careful when removing the nails because it could damage your nail. I ran into this issue the first time I removed my Static Nails because I didn’t read the directions. Don’t be dumb like me. If the nail is not budging, it’s because it’s not quite time to remove them. But if that’s not an option, you can soak the them in the hottest water you can stand for a few minutes prior to removal and then gently life it to pop it off. If you don’t care about reusing the nail, I soaked my nail in acetone to help break down the nail and remove it.

The Static Nails I have on in this post are the Mademoiselle Almond Nails that I cut down slightly and shaped myself. I also tried the Matte Rose Almond and I didn’t love those. I think the shine looks a much better than the matte, especially when it comes to lighter colors. Static Nails has different shapes such as almond, round, coffin, and square to help you find the shape that works for your hands. And they have a handful of different colors to choose from like white, black, burgundy, and even some fun colors. Each set is a limited edition so I think they consistently change out and add new colors throughout the year!

If you’re trying to look and feel your best during quarantine, I highly recommend these nails. I LOVE them, I think they are incredibly easy to apply and they look great, and I think they are well with the $16 I spent on a set I’ll be able to reuse! I keep looking down at my nails and I’m so happy with how they look so I already ordered more for future wears! Static Nails are awesome and I’m so pumped I found this brand!

  1. I really must know how you do CF with acrylics! Med-ball stuff is basically the only thing holding me back from going full-on fake nails (cause I hate mine, too).

    1. i’ve never had an any with acrylics and crossfit, other than them digging into my hands when i was doing barbell working. these press on nails would definitely be a pain in the ass, though, because they would easily pop off. acrylics don’t don’t do that. acrylics are pretty damn locked in place so i never had an issue when working out

      1. I weight training 5 days a week, and do not have a problem with nails popping off. If you use the correct amount of glue, they will stay on. I usually wear mine for 10-14 days
