Steam Gems were introduced in 2014 with the Winter Sale and have held up today as a virtual currency. How you get the gems and what you can do, we can tell you in this article.

Steam Gems: how to get gems

During the Winter Sales 2014, you could get the Steam Gems about purchases in the Store, and even on individual games. This no longer works now, but the gems are still available.

• Most easily, you will receive Steam Gems by converting objects from your inventory into gems. Click in Steam on your profile name and then "inventory". From there you can select any object and click on "In gems to convert...". The Text behind it shows you the value of your card collection. The Gems will appear in your inventory.
• In this case, a trading card, or other object, the following applies: The rarer it is, the more Gems you get. However, there may be special cards are also worth this in the Community Market to sell.
• Alternatively, you can buy gems in the Community market for real money. To do this, click in Steam on "Community" then "market". There you type in the search box the term "precious stones" and opt for one of the offers.

Precious stones to use - the Steam Gems

On games you can not offer with your gems, but you can make your inventory increase:

• For every 1,000 Gems you can a Booster Pack of trading cards to create. In some Games, the Packs costs 750 gems.
• To do this, open again your inventory and select the precious stones. Then click on "Booster Pack connect to...". Choose one of the offered Packs and create it. You can find the collection cards in your inventory. There you can unpack the Booster Pack or sell.
• Alternatively, the Steam Gems, you can sell directly. To do this, click the pack in your inventory to "gems in a bag". In this way, you can sell all the gems in the Community market. Here, you enter only your desired price and wait for other players to acquire your Gems. The money will be automatically added to your Steam account.
