Steph Curry Steps Up To Defend Wife Ayesha's New Hair Color

Celebrity cookbook author Ayesha Curry recently took to social media to show off a new hair color and her fans were shook! While the mother of three often wears her hair in different lengths and styles, she tends to keep her hair close to her naturally darker brown shade so when she decided to go blonde she got a lot of reaction, both positive and negative.

Curry recently posted a boomerang photo to Instagram where she showed off her new, blonde locks as she sits in a car. Behind her, her husband, NBA superstar Steph Curry can be seen smiling broadly. "Mom goes blonde (temporarily)," she captioned the picture. 

The 'Full Plate' author received a lot of praise from followers who thought the new look was simply stunning on her. "Ayesha Curry can definitely rock blonde," wrote one fan account, while another added, "I actually like Ayesha Curry hair better blonde y’all some haters."

However, some were critical of Curry's new look and use of common filters, accusing the beauty of cultural appropriation. "Ayesha curry look like a whole white woman with that blonde wig & makeup,” wrote one commenter on Twitter. “I really said ‘Steph left Ayesha for a white chick’ Then I read the caption & saw it was her post.” Another added, “Sorry but Ayesha Curry with blonde hair looking like a white woman is just ugly.”

Curry's famous husband clearly loves his wife's new look and chimed in on her Instagram post, shutting down the haters and leaving this very sweet comment. "You beautiful baby. And don’t you let anybody tell you differently ok? I mean it. There’s just a bunch of meanies out there and I don’t like it. I don’t like it one bit. Do you boo boo. P.S. If the wig falls off I won’t tell anybody, I promise. Pinky promise. It be hilarious though, but won’t anybody know. Wait- that’s been you in this bed the whole time??? I ain’t even know. Now I’m tripping."

Fortunately, the majority of Curry's fans and commenters thought she was stunning in the blonde wig and appreciated that sometimes a woman just likes to switch her look up and try something new!

Curry, who is multi-racial addressed the controversy herself on Twitter. "It’s the fun wig for a switch up and extremely common IG filter we all use from time to time for me… I just… y’all be taking this stuff wayyy too serious," she wrote.

Looks like the blonde may be around for a little while too. In a recent Instagram story, Curry wrote that her new blonde locks were 'growing on' her.
