The cause of the fire is still listed as undetermined and the most activity in recent days has been seen in the Arnett, Rapps and Beaver drainages on the south edge. The fire has reached the fireline on the 300 Road two miles west of Leesburg and the Beartrack Mine.

A Salmon-Challis National Forest closure order was issued on August 17 and remains in effect for certain roads, trails, and a defined geographic area around the fire.
