Sugar present in DNA isA. HeptoseB. HexoneC. TetroseD. PentoseAnswer
Verified588k+ viewsHint: The Pentose sugar present in DNA called deoxyribose contains five carbon atoms. The sugar is present on the hydroxyl group on the 2 carbon of the ribose. The crucial nucleic acids like DNA and RNA are made with the help of Pentose sugar ribose and deoxyribose present on the both structures. Complete answer: Carbon hydrogen and oxygen are obtained from the carbohydrates that is the simplest form of monosaccharides. The basic formula of monosaccharides C5H2nOn has five carbon atoms called Pentose. Genetic material such as DNA and RNA present inside the ribose sugar that’s combination of five carbon sugars and attaches the nitrogenous bases at the first carbon atom on the ring. Hexone is the structure which is obtained by the six carbon atoms from the monosaccharides for example glucose, monosaccharides also termed as heptose. Tetrose obtained by four carbon atoms present on the monosaccharides ring for example erythrulose. On the other hand, trioses are known from the three carbon atoms obtained by the monosaccharides like pyruvate structure. Pentose sugar found in the nucleic acids has five carbon atoms. And nucleoside is obtained by the combination process of base and a sugar present in it. The modified sugar obtained from DNA is known as deoxyribose which have lacking oxygen atom that absence of one oxygen helps to recognize the enzymes of DNA and RNA. Therefore the correct option is (D). Note: Phosphodiester bonds of the triphosphate precursors are completed polymers present at the outside apart from being the Carrier for adenine, guanine, cytosine and adenine bases. And the DNA acid makes the final product with the help of phosphate moiety.Recently Updated PagesMaster Class 10 Computer Science: Engaging Questions & Answers for Success
