Jan 29, 2011 at 3:39am Edited Can anyone tell me under "grades" what x1, x2, means? Does x1 mean midterm grade? Thanks

Jan 29, 2011 at 5:58am x1 is the midterm grade and x2 will be the grade for the final.

Jan 29, 2011 at 6:00am Pretty sure you're right. At this point, I only see one grade under X1, for a mid-term that was taken on Wednesday, by the teacher who is the fastest grader out there. So, I'm going to conclude that's what X1 is.

Jan 29, 2011 at 6:25am Thanks so much. That's what I suspected. Now, I just want to have confirmation from the teacher so we can throw a party!

Jan 29, 2011 at 6:39am I wish the teacher's grading scale was included as well. My daughter had one exam worth almost nothing and others that will be huge part of her grades.

Jan 29, 2011 at 2:00pm X1 is the midterm X2 is the final As teachers complete their grading they will enter in the X1 grades. Grades for Quarter 2 and the midterm are expected to be entered by Wednesday. Many teachers will be using this weekend to work on grading but remember, due to the snow day, 3 finals will not be administered until Monday. Tuesday is a regular day so some (unlucky) teacher will be faced with grading upwards of 75 midterms and entering grades by Wednesday. Not an easy task considering teachers have 45 minutes a day as their prep period.

Jan 29, 2011 at 2:04pm Also, as a point of clarification, midterm grades are not part of Quarter 2 in High School. They are a separate grade that is factored into the final grade of the course based on the department's standards. Weighting of tests, quizzes, etc as well as midterms and finals for a particular course is provided by teachers to parents at back to school night. Students are also provided this information at the start of the year or semester. If you or your child did not receive or has misplaced this information you should contact the teacher or department supervisor.

Feb 6, 2011 at 5:57pm For middle school, does anyone know if grades for rotating specials (music, art, home ec, what's the last one?) are meant to remain on the PowerSchool site? We never saw the music grade for Q1 there, though it was on the paper report, and now see a grade for home ec, but wonder if it will get swapped out once the art grade appears. Also, the grade for Phys Ed for Q1 never showed up on either the site or the paper report, and when I emailed the teacher, he told us the grade and said he'd get it corrected, but while the Q2 grade is now there, the Q1 grade still hasn't shown up. Is there someone else I should contact? Did anyone receive the paper reports for Q2 yet?

Feb 7, 2011 at 12:22am Report cards are mailed tomorrow, though I wonder if this will be delayed b/c of the recent snow days/delays. I don't know about the PE grade, but you can call the school office, for starters.

Feb 7, 2011 at 2:55am X1 is the midterm exam, M1 is the average at midyear (if they display that option), and X2 is the final exam. F1 is the final year end average.

Feb 7, 2011 at 3:00am One of our teachers has Q3 results listed in addition to Q1, Q2 and X1. WTF?

Feb 7, 2011 at 3:13am Some of the teachers keep Powerschool up to date all quarter so you'll start seeing grades at the beginning of the quarter if they've had something graded already. The number will change as the quarter progresses.

Feb 7, 2011 at 3:15am Given the 10 points difference between scores, I am curious to know which are the "real" grades!

Feb 7, 2011 at 4:11am The interim grades should have an asterix, a footnote, or something next to them so we know that they are not yet a final grade.

Feb 7, 2011 at 12:17pm kmk we are in Q3 already so if a teacher is entering scores for this quarter they will show up as they current running grade for Q3. Everytime an assignment is added, the Quarter grade will change until the closing date for that quarter.
