On Wednesday, CBS will award its “Survivor” Season 40 winner a record $2M for being the sole player to outwit, outplay, and outlast the other castaways made up of 20 previous show winners as part of its “Winners At War” installment. But before CBS gives its newest champion their winnings, viewers may be wondering just how much Jeff Probst makes for hosting the program.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Probst’s net worth is quite a bit more than the “Survivor” 2020 prize money. The site claims that the 58-year-old TV host and executive producer is worth an estimated $50M as of 2020. As for how the longtime television personality amassed his fortune, a lot of it has to do with his long-standing role on “Survivor.”

For 20 years, Probst has hosted the competition series, which first premiered in 2000. According to the site, his current salary sits at $8M. Similarly, in 2016, Variety reported that Probst, who became a producer on the show in 2003, earned an estimated $4M per season, making him one of the highest-paid TV hosts.

Outside of “Survivor,” Probst has worked on other shows as well, taking on cameos in “Family Guy,” “Life in Pieces,” “Two and a Half Men,” and “How I Met Your Mother.” He has also worked outside of the television arena, writing and directing the film “Finder’s Fee” in 2001. He also directed the feature drama “Kiss Me“ starring Rita Wilson, Missi Pyle, and Jenna Fisher in 2014.

While Probst has been steadily hosting multiple seasons of “Survivor” for CBS each year, production on the next season has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. In March, EW reported that Season 41, due to film in the Mamanuca Islands in Fiji, had pushed back filming until "at least" this month. As a result, Season 42, originally due to film in May, has been postponed as well.
