Haku is a 12-year-old boy (though it is likely he is much older due to his true identity) who is controlled by an old witch named Yubaba, but his soon-to-be acquaintance Chihiro ("A.k.a. "Sen" name given to her by Yubaba) will free him from that control. It is assumed that Chihiro is in love with Haku, because of the strong friendship between them and their will to be freed from Yubaba's control. Though because of her young age, it is never explicitly said. Chihiro only agrees to work for Yubaba until she can personally free her parents from Yubaba's spell. (Chihiro's parents were turned into pigs).

Chihiro defends Haku againist Zeneba's (Yubaba's Sister) who believes that he is a thief.

Chihiro immediately sets off to free Haku from a dreaded curse to save his life.

Chihiro never becomes scared of Haku, even when he transforms into a Dragon. (because she knows deep inside it truly is him).

Zeneba actually says that these two love each other when they are reunited.

You can tell there is a bond between them toward the ending, from the memories of when Chihiro was younger.\
