Tall Girl 2 Ending Explained On Netflix: Does Jodi Stay With Jack?

Tall Girl 2 ending spoilers follow.
Despite some pre-release controversy, Tall Girl proved a hit on Netflix in 2019 which all-but guaranteed that we'd see Jodi (Ava Michelle) again.
Tall Girl 2 has now arrived on the streaming service and picks up three months after the first movie with Jodi dealing with her new-found popularity. She's still with Jack (Griffin Gluck) and has just landed the lead role in the school musical.
But it's this role that resurfaces old anxieties about whether she's good enough for her new position in life, which spells trouble ahead for both her starring role in Bye Bye Birdie and her relationship with Jack.
It's probably not a surprise to say how it all unfolds (this is a romcom, after all), but just in case, there are spoilers ahead as we delve into the ending of Tall Girl 2.

Tall Girl 2 ending explained
From the start of rehearsals, Jodi is plagued by an inner voice that tells her she's not good enough, as well as her bully Kimmy, who she beat to the lead role and is now determined to make sure Jodi flakes out.
Kimmy tries to get Schnipper involved in her schemes, but he refuses as he has a bit of a crush on Jodi after their kiss in the first movie. It turns out that Kimmy doesn't really have to do much to unsettle Jodi, and her first week of rehearsals doesn't go well despite the assurances of Jodi's co-lead Tommy.
The pressure soon tells on Jodi's relationship with the still-creepily obsessive Jack who after telling her she can skip their anniversary dinner to rehearse, then gets mad that she actually wants to. They soon break up and Jodi ends up getting close to Tommy, who she shares a kiss with one night.

It seems as though Jodi reconciles with Jack, but when she's honest that she dared to kiss someone when they were broken up, Jack overreacts and they split for good. He forms a pact with Stig's sister Stella, who's going through a break-up of her own, and vows to never get back with her.
(Oh yeah, Jodi's former love interest Stig is still around and even gets a relationship subplot of his own with Jodi's friend Fareeda.)
Jodi attends the pre-show tradition of a "burning ceremony" meant to rid the cast of any negativity ahead of the musical. She goes to burn the shoes Jack bought her in the first movie, but changes her mind halfway through. It's actually Kimmy who saves them from the fire, marking the start of her bully redemption.
Despite the fact he's into her (and would be a better match), Jodi admits to Tommy that she's still not over Jack and they agree to just be friends.
At the pre-opening night party, Jodi gives Fareeda her blessing to date Stig and Jack pops up to give a little pep talk to Jodi. He's also given a (long-overdue) dressing down by Stella over his reaction to Jodi's kiss with Tommy: "Your whole life, you put her on a pedestal. The second she does something that ruins your perfect image of her, you push her off of it."

Jodi is still struggling with her inner voice on opening night of the musical, despite her parents' advice on how to deal with anxiety. Kimmy completes her redemption by turning down Jodi's offer to go on in her place, telling Jodi that she will stand in the wings and give cues if she ever forgets anything.
Opening night goes swimmingly, of course, and after the show, Jodi finally drowns out the inner voice by telling herself, "I'm good enough to do this". Jack shows up and reveals he was in the lighting booth taking photos all night (creep).
Jack tells Jodi that he loves her and the pair finally reconcile and kiss, meaning everybody lives happily ever after. Well, unless there's a Tall Girl 3 and something else comes along to mess up their relationship.
