Our son, Tate, was born in 2013. My husband’s stepfather has the last name of Tate. He raised 4 children and never had any of his own, so we thought it was a great way to honor him.

Our Tate is so sweet and cheerful. He is the kind of person you just feel happy to be around. A true gift!! I secretly hope this name doesn’t get really popular but k keep hearing it more often, lately. I knew NO other kid or person named Tate when we chose the name.

In 1993 I named my second born son TATE. I loved the name, it was very unique..we live in Australia & at that time I knew of no other TATE’S. The meaning of TATE is CHEERFUL & HAPPY & couldn’t be truer of my boy. He is now 28 yo & I still love his name. He has the most beautiful easy going nature, a very free spirit, the biggest kindest caring heart of pure gold & he touches the lives of everyone who is fortunate to know him with happiness and endless laughter. He truly is someone profoundly special..he has this different glow about him..he just shines brilliantly brighter than anyone else ?

I heard the name years ago on a Tv show and just loved it. When my wife and I had been dating awhile I told her that’s what I wanted to name my son. A few days later she was driving and thinking about the name and passed a Sonic. She yelled Oh my god!! Tator Tot!! I could call him my Tator Tot. It stuck. I liked that it was different. I also liked how country it sounds. (We live in Texas) Little Tate out in the woods with his boots on.

Tate was a long awaited brother, and this name means ‘one who brings happiness to others’…perfect for him and as a blessing over his whole life.

My husband and I wanted a shorter, strong boy’s name that was unique but not “bizarre”. The name “Tate” was actually the last name of a standout football player (Drew Tate) at our alma mater, so that added some extra significance as well. Four years later, we still love his name!
