France is divided into 5 telephone areas, each corresponding to a separate telephone code reserved primarily for landlines:

  2. Northwest France: Area Code 02
  3. Northeast France: Area Code 03
  4. Southeast France: Area Code 04
  5. Southwest France: Area Code 05

The prefixes 06 and 07 are are designated for mobile phones.

The 08 is reserved for special numbers and services.

However, the 08 numbers can vary in their nature and usage. Some may be toll-free (Numéros Verts), while others may be premium rate numbers (Numéros Indigo) utilized by corporations and businesses.

The telephone area code 09 is reserved for Internet Access Providers in France
