Tesla WiFi is a data connection option that is usually faster than cellular data networks. Connecting to WiFi is especially handy in locations where cellphone service is restricted or non-existent. Tesla recommends connecting your vehicle to a WiFi network whenever possible to enable quick and reliable software and map updates (for example, when parked in a garage overnight).

How to connect Tesla 3 to WiFi:

Press the cellular icon (LTE or 3G) on the top corner of the touchscreen. The Model 3 will begin scanning and displaying detected WiFi networks within range.
Choose the WiFi network to use, enter the login credentials if required and press 'Confirm.'
The vehicle will connect to the WiFi network and in future will automatically connect to the same network when it is in range.

You can also connect to a network that isn't listed in the scanned networks list. Simply click 'WiFi Settings,' type the network name in the resulting dialogue box, choose the security option, and then select 'Add Network.'

If Tesla won't connect to WiFi, repeat these steps or refer to the owner's manual for troubleshooting.

Note: Model 3 connects to the most recently utilized network if more than one previously connected network is within range.

Note: WiFi tethering allows you to use a mobile hotspot or your phone's Internet connection (subject to fees and restrictions of your mobile carrier).

Note: When the vehicle is in or near Tesla Service Centers, Model 3 automatically connects to the Tesla Service WiFi network.
