The 10 Tallest One Piece Characters, Ranked - CBR

For over two decades, One Piece has built a vast cast of characters. From the tiny Tontatta tribe and the towering elephant of Zou to mysterious beings fans have only caught a glimpse of, the characters and creatures of One Piece come in every shape, size, and color. Although not every character has a canon height, there are plenty that are confirmed to be several times larger than average human beings.

While giants are the most overtly tall race, with obvious examples in the Yeti Cool Brothers, plenty of other characters have done a surprisingly good job at rivaling them in scale and power. Both Fish-Men and Merfolk are well known to grow to great sizes, like in Wadatsumi's case, but even some humans have managed to give the more titanic races a run for their money. Whatever the species, there are plenty of characters that tower over others, making quite a visible impression.

Updated on July 10, 2025, by Ajay Aravind: The vibrant diversity of One Piece applies to everything from gender and sexuality to cultures and ideologies. Having characters with different body types is just as important, which can sometimes mean exaggerated heights. That said, this list excludes some Giants because the Elbaph arc recently revealed several of them, which would effectively replace nearly every non-Giant character on this list.

25 King and Queen Share the Same Height

King and Queen's Height: 20'1"

Both King and Queen are within a centimeter of each other, making their heights effectively the same in comparison to their relatively small crew members. King is a Lunarian, a Red Line race that has practically gone extinct, which presumably accounts for his 20'1" size. King's elongated legs make him somewhat disproportionate, but his movements in battle signify a great level of control over his big body. It took Zoro considerable effort to bring King down in the Wano Arc.

Meanwhile, Queen is an ordinary human who is still as tall as King — he was once skinny before reaching his current corpulence, although his height has never changed. A combination of cybernetic augmentation and the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Brachiosaurus Devil Fruit has made Queen far stronger than he would have been otherwise. As such, Sanji only manages to defeat Queen after unlocking his Ifrit Jambe technique.

24 Whitebeard Is One of the Shortest Original Emperors

Whitebeard’s introduction immediately makes it obvious how huge he is. When Shanks comes to discuss Ace’s hunt for Blackbeard with Whitebeard, Whitebeard has a grand stature despite the medical equipment that he is using. Even his ship is many times greater than the Red-Haired Pirates’ ship. While this is most likely in part due to how large Whitebeard’s crew is, it is also most likely to make Whitebeard comfortable, as well.

During the Marineford arc, Whitebeard’s impressive height becomes even clearer. As he stands next to other members of his crew, such as Marco and Squab, the fact that he is nearly 22 feet tall becomes very apparent. Despite the fact that Whitebeard towers over many members of his own crew and the marines alike, he is far from the tallest One Piece character, though.

23 Jerry Isn't the Most Memorable Character

Jerry's Height: 22'2"

Jerry is unlikely to win any popularity contests among fans, even if they remember he existed. Although he is one of the most obscure One Piece characters, he does manage to at least have one notable trait: his massive 22+' height, standing slightly taller than even Whitebeard. This prominent height is about the only thing that Jerry has going for him, though.

Appearing during the ride on Puffing Tom during the Water 7 arc, Jerry is one of the earliest tall humans to be introduced. Though exceptionally tall humans would eventually become a staple as the series went on, Jerry is still notable given how unusual it was at the time. Despite his height, his appearance was brief, only showing up long enough to fight and lose against Sanji after quite literally tying himself in a knot.

22 Edward Weevil Calls Himself Whitebeard's Son

Weevil's Height: 22'4"

Edward Newgate, also known as Whitebeard, died surrounded by hundreds of family members and friends. At the same time, a mysterious albeit annoying character named Edward Weevil has been proclaiming himself to be the son of Whitebeard. Considering that Weevil does vaguely resemble Whitebeard and stands at 22+ feet, this declaration might have some merit. That said, Whitebeard cared more about found family than biological children, the exact opposite of Weevil's assertions.

Edward Weevil doesn't have a particularly large role to play in One Piece, although becoming one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea is a testament to his prodigious might. Weevil might look like Obelix from the Asterix series, but he's way stronger. He's also rather simple-minded and dangerously violent, a combination that makes him unpredictable. Fans last saw Weevil protecting Whitebeard's hometown, only to be captured by Admiral Ryokugyu .

21 Bartholomew Kuma Became a World Government Tool

The cybernetic killing machine once known as Bartholomew Kuma is certainly an impressive foe. Even before his transformation into a cyborg by Dr. Vegapunk, he was infamous as one of the Warlords of the Sea. That said, Kuma’s height is a result of his Buccaneer blood, and has nothing to do with the cybernetic enhancements. Additionally, it is revealed that much about his perceived villainy was misconstrued, and he actually had good intentions toward the Straw Hats.

While Bartholomew Kuma has primarily been an antagonistic force, especially given that the Pacifista were created in his image, he did also seek to protect the Thousand Sunny after the events of the Summit War arc. He went as far as to personally guard the ship during the time skip despite his mind supposedly being wiped by his final transformation. Anime fans are currently watching Kuma's tragic backstory, making him even more endearing.

20 Gecko Moria Is a Villainous Former Warlord

As a former member of the Seven Warlords of the Sea and captain of arguably the world's largest ship, Thriller Bark, Gekko Moria was a force to be reckoned with. This is made clear from his 22'8½" height to his gothic appearance. His dominating height is the least of his impressive attributes, though. What should actually be feared is the power of Moria’s Shadow-Shadow Fruit, given how deadly it can be.

Given his mastery over zombies and undead, some of Moria’s strange appearance may be due to his twisted meddling, or that of his underlings. He is far from the only one on Thriller Bark interested in piecing together others, as both Hogback and Perona surround themselves with stitched creatures. But even in youth he was decidedly diabolic looking, as well as had a notably tall stature. The exact question of what race he is has never been fully answered, though. If Moria appears in the final saga, perhaps it will be.

19 Buffalo Was Already Huge as a Teenager

Buffalo's Height: 22'10"

The Donquixote Pirates feature several tall characters — Pica stands at around 15 feet, but the stone golem manifested by his Devil Fruit can be hundreds of feet in height. Still, Buffalo's base form makes him the tallest of the crew, at 22'10". Fans still don't know what his real name is, but that doesn't stop Buffalor from wreaking havoc across both the Punk Hazard and Dressrosa Arcs. Buffalo can also fly using his Devil Fruit, shrouding the ground below with his gigantic shadow.

As a reference to his Guru Guru no Mi, Buffalo's hair appears to be shaped like a propeller, which he can also use for flight. Flashbacks revealed that a teenage Buffalo was already massive, considerably taller than nearly every adult human in the series. Fans either love or hate this character: Buffalo's loyalty is indeed commendable, whereas his zany behavior and dialogue paint him as overtly weird, even for One Piece.

18 Kaidou Is a Gigantic Dragon Who Enslaved a Nation

While his presence was mentioned as early as the Thriller Bark arc, it wouldn't be until much later that the feared Kaidou finally made an appearance during the events of Dressrosa, with his Devil Fruit's true power being hidden until the expedition into Wano Country. However, it is clear from his very first appearance that Kaidou towers over almost every other character in the show. While his Devil Fruit gives him even more length, Kaidou’s normal height of 23’4" is nothing to scoff at.

With a massive and heavily muscled body as well as a pair of long horns, Kaidou cuts an intimidating figure in any scene he appears in. He's even more intimidating when he chooses to unleash the devastating power of his legendary Zoan Devil Fruit, transforming into a sky-spanning azure dragon. Similarly, his Man-Beast form gives him additional height, though only his base-human height has been canonically confirmed.

17 Black Maria Is a Terrifying Hybrid Beast Pirate

Unlike King and Queen, Black Maria stands taller than even her captain, Kaidou. When the pair stand together, they easily intimidate those around them based on their stature alone. Bold and affectionate towards her crew, Black Maria has built up significant goodwill with them despite her high-ranking position and powerful Devil Fruit. As her cool fight against Nico Robin proves, she is also a fearsome opponent.

Black Maria’s Kumo Kumo no Mi, Model: Rosamygale Grauvogeli is unique in several ways, the first of which is the fact that it is one of the few Zoan-type Devil Fruits to use the real-life scientific name of its animal. Additionally, this Devil Fruit also allows Black Maria to turn into a centaur-like hybrid form rather than the more common anthropomorphic shapes that Zoan fruits tend to grant. This gives her even more height, making her one of One Piece’s tallest characters.

16 Jack the Drought Can Become a Literal Mammoth

Jack's Height: 27'3"

As a Fish-man, Jack the Drought was naturally going to be taller than average, standing at an impressive 27 feet 3 inches. He's also among the most essential members of Kaidou's crew, making him an All-Star of the Beasts Pirates. Fans first see Jack lumber into view during the Zou Arc, when he and his crew attack the titular island atop the back of Zunesha. Like Black Maria, Jack is considerably larger than Kaidou himself.

Jack's heavily muscular body grants him immeasurable strength, although his arms and legs are weirdly small for his massive torso in the manga. Jack's Ancient Zoan Devil Fruit allows him to transform into a seriously sizeable mammoth, dwarfing his human form by several degrees. Despite his gargantuan stature, Zunesha — who is by far the biggest character in One Piece — effortlessly wrecked Jack and his fleet of ships.
