But for those of us who aren't willing to splash out over $400 on a seriously swanky set of sheets, there's an ingenious — and cheap —  hack that will change your bedding.

If you want softer sheets without the big budget, all you need is a couple of pantry staples.

According to TruTV’s Hack My Life series, if you throw your stiff sheets in the wash with one full cup of baking soda and half a cup of vinegar, your linen will come out softer than soft. Well, softer than expensive sheet alternatives anyway.

Even if you don't have these two staples in your pantry, they only cost around $3 all up at the supermarket, so throw them in your trolley during your next shop.

The show had six blind testers each lay in a bed dressed with a set of super pricey, luxury linen, and a set of cheap sheets that had been through a baking soda and vinegar wash.

When asked to identify which sheets were the cheap set, five of the six testers thought the expensive sheets were actually the cheaper set — presumably meaning they found the cheaper set to be softer and more luxurious to lie in.

For the silkiest results, the pros behind the show suggest starting your baking soda and vinegar wash cycle on hot, then switch to cold during the rinse cycle.

You'll have sheets that feel like luxuriously soft that you haven't spent a bomb on and it'll have you wishing you could spend all day in bed.
