The 555 morning mindfulness practice not only improves productivity throughout the day, but also puts the mind in a spiritual state. This practice consists of spending five minutes meditating, five minutes stretching, and finally, five minutes mentally preparing for the day. Many people have seen significant changes in their day to day life, simply by practicing this for a week.
Often, meditation is thought of stereotypically; sitting with your legs folded and eyes closed, thinking of absolutely nothing. But there is so much more to it. Meditation is actually about observing your thoughts as they flow through your mind. However, instead of entertaining a thought, simply observe it. It’s about becoming aware of your thoughts, feelings, and physical body without judging yourself.
Stretching, whether that be, child’s pose, downward dog, or really anything else, helps your blood flow nicely and increases flexibility. This mindfulness practice will help you feel mentally and physically prepared for the day. After all, the “secret to a long life, is to keep moving”.
Mentally preparing in the morning is known to increase productivity throughout the day. Creating a to-do list, bullet journaling, or even just thinking about your schedule will help your day go by more smoothly.
