What We Accept

DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT, EVERY DAY! For every dollar you spend on a diaper at the store or online, we can buy two! Because we distribute millions of diapers each year, we have strong wholesale purchasing power. In lieu of purchasing new diapers or products to donate to us, your dollars can go even further if you make a cash donation to Greater DC Diaper Bank. Another way to think of it – the number of diapers you provide for babies is DOUBLED when you give funds directly to GDCDB. 

EXCESS PRODUCT: If you have excess hygiene and baby products in your household, we accept donations of certain items. We ask that you carefully read the list of accepted products before visiting our Silver Spring warehouse or a community drop-off location as it helps us avoid waste.

What we accept (items we prioritize are in bold):

• Diapers, sizes N-8 (open packages accepted): priority sizes 6, 7, 8
• Pullups & Overnights, all sizes (open packages accepted)
• New and unopened Wipes
• New and unopened Diaper Rash Cream
• Tampons/Pads/Liners (open boxes with individually wrapped items accepted)
• New and unopened Adult Incontinence Packages (full packages only)
• New and unopened bottles (must be in original packaging)
• New and unopened pacifiers
• New and unopened breast pumps (must be in the original packaging)

In January 2025, GDCDB experienced a flood in one of its warehouses. While we make repairs, we are UNABLE to accept the items listed below. While we anticipate reopening this warehouse in summer 2025, we have included a list of community organizations that do accept the products if you should donate them in the interim.

• Formula
• Baby food & toddler snacks
• New and unused hygiene products (soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, body wash)
• New and unused dental hygiene products (toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, mouthwash)
• Potty training seats
• Baby bathtubs
• Books
• New and unopened breastfeeding supplies (pads, nipple cream)
• New and unopened nipples
• Used baby carriers

What we don’t accept:

• Swim diapers/swimmers
• Toys
• Clothes
• Postpartum hospital supplies
• Cribs/mattresses
• Used baby gear (strollers, car seats, playpens)
• Used breast pumps/pump parts (please recycle)
• Used bottles or feeding supplies
• Diaper pails
• Laundry detergent
• Toilet paper

For those items we cannot accept, we suggest you consider donating to the following:

• Goodwill
• A Wider Circle
• Capital Area Food Bank (formula and baby food)
